        Best Uses

Comments about Toshiba 55SL417U 55" LED HDTV:

We use this on a big AV cart as a monitor for Video Conferencing, for DVD and VCR, and will use it's built-in Skype, as soon as we get the camera.

          The good:
Great image, light in weight, lots of connections, lots of web features.

          The not-so good:
          1) This is a great TV, but we have an unusual situation that creates some minor problems. This regards the wireless features. We are in an institutional environment in which there are many wireless access points throughout the facility. With most wireless devices, you just need to be logged in to the named wireless access point, and the commonly-named different access points pass you from unit to unit depending on which one is closest. With this unit, you get tied to a particular named access point with a specific MAC adress, and you need to re-set it all up every time you move the thing.
          2) We have a polycom video conferencing machine hooked to a separate sound system. Every time we try to use that thing, we get a warning on screen that audio is set up wrong, and have to press "OK". There may be a way around this, but I have not found it yet.
