The Numark NS6 USB DJ Controller integrates tightly with Serato ITCH DJ software, and the combination gives DJs the flexibility to perform with or without software at all. The NS6 features a 4-channel mixer / controller that may be used with or without a computer, and analog inputs support turntables and digital decks. There are balanced XLR outputs and microphone connections as well.
In addition the NS6 features built-in effects that may be applied to audio files in Serato, or the audio of the connected decks. Two illuminated, touch-sensitive platters feature 3600 ticks of resolution, for incredible control over files in Serato ITCH. Numark's Strip Search needle-drop technology is carried over from the Numark NS7. The addition of position indicators keeps DJs aware of their track position. The NS6 includes Serato ITCH software, but because communication is based upon MIDI, you can use it with a variety of MIDI software.

This DJ controller is the best i had ever used, it is well made, looks and feels durable. The jogwheels are simply great, the feel of them is wonderful, although they are not motorized.
I modified the included traktor 2 Pro Mapping and it works great with traktor 2. I used the serato itch a little bit but not too much, but the controller worker out of the box.
I used the S4 from NI time ago and the NS6 is just far better product that the NI controller. NI controller has terrible drivers, a lot of latency problems and it looks like a cheap toy.
In the other hand, the NS6 is strong, the audio interface its very good, and the software that comes with it just works perfect.

Comments about Numark NS6 USB DJ Controller:
This seems to be a top-3 controller in the game. With B&H's price (much cheaper than anywhere else) it's definitely the best value. I'm loving this controller although it's not perfect. Out of the box it wouldn't connect so I had to manually install the drivers from Numark's website. OK, works now. The fader on this is so on-point. I can crab and flare better on the NS6 than I can on my Vestax 06 and 07s. However, the 4 level faders do get in the way of the crossfading hand. Itch refuses to recognize FX but SeratoDJ does although it sometimes crashes/freezes on me. My computer is at the minimum specs and it is pretty buggy. Lots of computer restarts so get a mac or a powerful PC. Also when mixing 4 channels, the pitch control is changing both layered channels. I dont know if it's a bug or if you cant change tempo for layered tracks independently. What I love is how the EQs cut out ALL sound when dropped to 0. The jogwheels are so accurate and slick. As a 20-year vinyl user, these wheels are realy comfortable to use. I love this thing! I see the next one will have motorized wheels! Prob will be double the price though. This has got to be the best value controller for under $x,xxx

Comments about Numark NS6 USB DJ Controller:
The NS6 is probably the best controller for Serato Itch software. And the fact that it is also a standalone mixer makes versatile of enough for various live applications.
I'm a record producer of mostly urban music, so the cue points make it easy to sample and do loop rolls. This gives the NS6 an almost Akai MPC type of functionailty.
The jog wheels are great for scratching, blending, and mixing. There are two different modes for the jog wheels: 1. "Scratch" Mode and 2. Normal Mode allows you to to push the record to slow or speed it up (while the song is sontinously playing), for those times when you want to make fine tempo adjustments. Tempo Matching is essentially done for you in "Sync" mode, and the pitch faders feel good and precise like Technics.
At the top-center of the controller, you will find an easy layout for ITCH effects and saturation, plus a simple knob to dig through crates and chose songs. Itch is awesome because you can blend 4 songs at the same time, and the NS6 allows you to switch to decks 3 and 4 with a simple push of a button.
The stock cross-fader feels good, and you adjust the cross-fader slope to your own preference. Scratch DJs will enjoy that you can replace the stock cross-fader with something better if you wish. The headphone amp is really loud, which is great for loud venues where you can't hear the headphone mix.
This contoller is of solid build, and all the knobs, faders and LEDs seem to be quality enough to last a long time.
The back offers stereo RCA and 1/4" inputs, but no XLR inputs, and balanced XLR and stereo RCA outputs, but no 1/4" outputs. This may cause you to purchase adapters and other type cables, so make sure you know what you need before doing a show. Also, it appears ITCH effects can not be used on analog inputs, only on the virtual decks.
Either way, I can't wait to use this in a live setting for hip hop shows, and other situations where I can DJ for vocalists in live settings. I plan on really mixing it up by incorporating a vintage Roland synthesixer into one of the line inputs!

Having dj'ed since the 90's, I know a thing or two about gear. I must admit that I am not a fanatic of 'laptop dj'ing', since I need buttons and not a mouse pointer to get things done. That being said, this NS6 provides plenty of functionality so that you have minimum interaction with your laptop.
I do wish that it had motorized platters like the NS7 as well as USB ports so that you could truely use the system with no laptop at all, but then again you wouldn't have the effects available through Serato or Virtual DJ.

Comments about Numark NS6 USB DJ Controller:
I expected no less from Numark. Very clean and versatile. Easy to set up. Easy to update the Serato ITCH software. Mine came with Ver1.8 which is not compatible with Mac OS 10 Lion. Good product for the beginner or seasoned pro. Replace everything in your setup, or just plug in your decks and keep spinning.

Comments about Numark NS6 USB DJ Controller:
I bought this as an upgrade from a Numark Total Control using Cue. The NS6 and Itch were upgrades for me in a lot of ways: the software looks nice and colorful, BPM analyzing is more customized and accurate, but there are definitely some things I miss from my old setup. First, I was able to use Cue offline and program keyboard shortcuts to play 2 decks at once and also used my keyboard to kill the bass/mid/treble (this helped me play around with transitions without the hardware). I can't play 2 decks at once in offline mode in Itch, or toggle the bass/mid/treble. On the hardware, the NS6 doesn't come with kill switches, either. I used this a lot with my Total Control during sets, so that was one of the first things I noticed on the NS6. Other than that, though, this combination has a lot more functions and features like better scratching (not that I would really use that, anyway), strip search, 4 channels, etc. It looks better and feels better, but I wish it came with Cue instead of Itch.
