Vello's Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote (Sony Alpha Connection) doesn't just trip your shutter wirelessly. It's also equipped to handle a long list of timer functions: self-timer, interval timer, long exposure timer, as well as controlling the number of continuous shutter releases. It works with a vast array of different cameras--just swap out the camera release cable for the correct camera. The transmitter works at distances up to 250' (80 m) on any one of 99 channels over a reliable 2.4GHz frequency.
Timer delays, exposure times, and intervals can be set for up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds, in one-second increments. You can also choose anywhere from 1 to 99 continuous shots or you can set the timer to take an unlimited number of photos. The receiver uses a CR2 lithium battery, and the transmitter uses 2x AAA batteries, which can last up to 4 years on standby.

I own already a wireless remote that is smaller and easier to use.
This remote does pack a lot of features. I have used it only verly little. The setup and ussage with the buttons is not very natural.
The button reaction time is kind of slow and soft. I will only use this for true timelaps (with the maual at hand) or to trigger my 2nd body when my prime remote is in use.
For generic wireless remote triggering it is too big for my liking and probably almost impossible to operate with gloves

Comments about Vello Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote (Sony Alpha Connection):
I was stoked to find a compatible intervalometer for my Sony SLT a57. Online this is confirmed, but when I received it, on the box there was a sticker that showed all the models BUT the a57... After a time of frustration dealing with the minimalistic owners manual, I figured out how to use the Vello ShutterBoss. I'm sure if you are familiar with intervalometers, however, it wouldn't have taken you very long.

Comments about Vello Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote (Sony Alpha Connection):
I use it to trigger the shutter remotely while placing the camera for close-up shots of bird at the feeders, ponds, etc. while I stand 50 feet or more away waiting for the action. This way not being in close proximity does not spook the birds or having to rely on a long telephoto lens for the same effect. Fortunately the receiver does not interfere with the pop up flash on the camera.

Comments about Vello Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote (Sony Alpha Connection):
I'd been wanting to buy a timer for timelapse and star trailing. This little guy does the job and it does it perfectly. The fact that I can use it on my Alpha, Canon, or Nikon SLRs, assuming I have the right adapters, makes it a great product. The only possible con i could find was the arrangement of the LCD display in the timer, but once you get the hang of it, you completely forget about it.

I recently started using the Vello Shutterboss. I found it easy to learn how to use the various settings. I did have a little difficulty with my Sony A55 recognizing the contoller when I first used it. It appears it was operator error. After restarting the camera and controller there were no problems. The controls on the remote have a nice feel to them. The receiver and remote seem durable. After researching a dozen different wireless controllers, I have no doubt this was the correct choice for my uses.

Purchased the product having not been able to find a digital solution for my Sony dslr. The wireless feature works great and have been able to take some amazing bulb night shots with it. All the other features advertised work great, haven't found a use for them yet but am sure I will soon enough

Does wat it needs to do, easy and fast to work with. A real on/off button would be nice, but there is nothing wrong with how it is.
After using it, i realise that 1 to 99 number of shots is not so much, if you like to make longer intervals for example.
btw, first time removing wireless shutterboss from cameras body, you need to push with a bit of pressure and slight jiggle with it, before it will pops off.

Comments about Vello Wireless ShutterBoss Timer Remote (Sony Alpha Connection):
The number of features that this remote offers (interval, duration, number of shots feature, etc) make this remote stand out from others. It is almost like having a computer in your hand. The number of shots feature allows one to program how many shots at a given exposure the photographer would like to capture. I am an astrophotography enthusiast, and found this remote to be very helpful for long exposure shots (greater than 30 seconds). The fact that it is a wireless remote, it removes the photographer from being in contact with the camera when dealing with long exposure shots. Another great feature, which can be useful for astrophotography, or any night photography, is the ability to have a time delay that is longer than 10 seconds. Most cameras only have a 10 second time delay for pictures, but having a wireless remote, and it having an extended time delay feature, allows the user an extended period of time to be away from the camera, to solve tripod/camera shake. One downfall is the fact that the plastic housing for the remote (the transceiver, not the receiver) is a little thin and light in weight. I guess that would be good if you want to cut the weight of your equipment. I believe that under normal use, this plastic housing would be sufficient, but I don't think it would hold up from a beating. That is the only reason that it did not receive 5 stars.

This remote works far better than wired remotes and far better than the wireless remote provided by the camera manufacturer. I have used it for the Venus transit and bird feeder shots

Got this remote for my a77. It is by far one of the most simple yet at the same time most versatile remote i have used. It just took me 5 minutes to get used to it. Great for outdoors, self portrait, time lapse photography. Keep in mind at first it appears it can only click 99 pics at a stretch, but if you go to 'timer controls' and set the number to -- , you can click unlimited photos until your batteries or memory runs out. Might appear to be lightly built but dropped it a couple of times and its still going good.

I use my a55 primarily for creative/unconventional videography, and I bought the ShutterBoss recently to save me hours in creating a recent stop-motion video. It was worth every penny. I'm looking forward to using the timing functions to create some interesting time-lapse videos in the near future. It's also fantastic if you want to do light painting or other bulb exposures.

I have used this product extensively since I have purchased it and it has worked without fail, even over longer distances than advertised.
Thus far I have used it on manual settings as well as automated "time lapse" settings and it has functioned as designed. Very good piece of equipment.
The only negatives I can include are that the remote felt "cheap" but has turned out to be fairly rugged (having already dropped it a couple of times) and that the battery utilized for the camera mount is not a standard battery.
