I purchased this case because I was needing something more secure and sturdy than my Lowepro messenger bag (which is also an incredibly fine product) when shooting events such as weddings and parties. The multitude of latches are a plus, as well as having two holes to loop padlocks through.

I was surprised at how big it was when I received it, but having an extendable handle with rollers like a carry-on bag makes it easy to transport, and it fits all my gear, even a water bottle and granola bars for those LONG shoots where getting away to eat isn't an option.

It's surprisingly lightweight for being such a big case, and I hope that it will be as durable as I hope it is, lasting a very long time.

I use this case to store all my photo equipment when on the road. It keeps everything together and safe, and easy to get the right pieces out for different shooting conditions.
It could be lighter, but then it wouldn't be what Pelican is famous for!

The case is put together well and so far has been with us on two trips and has projected our equipment. The case is solid but fully loaded weighs a fair amount. As such we are looking at adding a few smaller versions of the case to use for smaller local projects.

We use the 1654 Pelican case to transport our video camera and other production supplies. The dividers help maximize our storage capacity which I prefer over the foam inserts. Very durable and easy to transport.

We use these cases to carry sensitive equipment on and off ships. They get banged around and dropped and our equipment never suffers.

I was using 2 Pelican 1510 cases to carry my photography gear to various local locations. It is a hassel at times being a one man show and wanted to consolidate the 2 cases into one for my local shoots. I purchased the Pelican 1624 and was able to consolidate everything into one case and still have room for other equipment. I will use the smaller cases whenever I need to fly to a photo shoot location, so I can carry my equipment onboard the plane.

I bought this to store and transport four monolights, plus a snoot, two barndoors, four grids, two reflectors, filters, and the associated cords and wireless triggers. It all fit easily. I also bought the lid organizer to handle the small stuff. Like a Pelican cases, it is extremely well constructed. My only gripe is that I wish it came with a couple of full-length (long dimension) dividers, but it certainly didn't arrive with too few dividers overall - I have quite a few left over.

I have over a dozen lenses in mine - one weighing over 12 lbs, and the case handles it perfectly.

This is my third Pelican case. I have a 1510 for carry on and a 1610 for checked bagage and for daily use for cameras, lens etc. I got this one for mono lights, and associated equipment. All of them have the padded inserts. These are great boxes and will last along time. Beware, if you have a compact car you may want to consider a smaller box.

Its big, its bad, its a giant Pelican case for all your goodies. This thing is bad to the bone. It holds everything. I'm using it to cart around my Alien Bee's monolights, cords, camera, lenses and flashes. I also purchased the lid organizer which is massive enough to hold all of my misc items. Oh and it has wheels, can't ask for anything more. When its all loaded up its a tad heavy but hey, thats to be expected.

What's not to like, guaranteed, built like a brick........, sure its heavy so what? it holds all my gear, and room for expansion.
1 5D mkll, 1 5D mklll, 100 macro, 15-36, 24-70, 70-200 all Canon L glass, 1.4 50mm, 1.4 extension, macro set up(including tripod) from RRS, canon twin light flash, couple of speed lights, misc galore. For me once it's latched it's one thing I don't have to worry about when transporting and laughs at dust/water/muck
I would do it again. Get the lid organizer with it, it really helps get and stay organized.

This is a big case, bigger than I thought but it works perfect for an on the go photographer! The only downfall is the dividers need to be a little more customizable

I am planning to go for the extencive travel at the begining of May. So far the quality and the durability of the product looks very very good. The real test of this "Pelican" is about to begin. Tough and durable! It fits four 1600 Alien Bees, and my Vagabond Mini, plus a few other things! It is so tough actually that i dropped it on my foot (which may or may not be broken, hehe!) Really is fantastic though!
