The AF100 Book is a comprehensive overview of Panasonic's AG-AF100 camcorder. All aspects of the camera are covered: features, settings functions and buttons. However, the book goes further by exploring when, where and how to use each function the camera offers.
Integrated tutorials cover control of depth-of-field, how to control strobing and shoot 24P (or 25P) for the best results, working with all the variable frame rates, different lenses and lens mounts, and how to use the waveform monitor and vectorscope.
The companion CD is filled with files that you can copy to an SD card and upload to your own camera. Clear and concise explanations will help you come to terms with using this amazing camera.

Comments about Books Book/CD-ROM: The AF100 Book by Barry W. Green:
Once again Barry Green hits it out of the park with the comprehensive guide to the Panasonic AF100. The book starts with a precursor of comprehensive articles covering everything from Exposure and White Balance to Workflow, Variable Frame Rates and Rolling Shutter/CMOS Sensors.
As in his other books Mr. Green devotes an entire chapter to Scene File Settings - a step by step guide to understanding what each scene file menu item does, why it does what it does and how to apply that to custom settings.
This is followed up by the same comprehensive coverage of every button and switch on the camera and every menu setting for both record and playback modes.
Make no mistakes, this is not like your AF100 camera manual - this is a real world working knowledge of what the parameters of each of these settings are, what the presets are and why and when to deviate from those presets.
The Panasonic AF100 manual is 78 pages long including the Part 2 on CD, the Barry Green AF100 Book is 257 pages long without including info from the CD.
A great example of this is the section on Zebra settings in the menu - The AF100 Manual offers 2 lines of info on Zebra settings - the Barry Green AF100 Book has two pages of info on Zebra settings including how and why to use them.
Additional chapters include a down to earth discussion about Metadata and another comprehensive look at some features of the camera (switches, buttons and jacks) and observations about how those features work and how they can be best employed.
The AF100 Book finishes strong with over two dozen scene files that show examples of what can be accomplished by using the camera settings - including a CD with HiRes sample scene file images and the two dozen scene files that can be downloaded to an SD card and imported directly into your camera.
I'm a big fan of Barry's books and this one doesn't disappoint. If you are a freelance camera person, AC or a owner operator of the AF100 - you need to get this book and spend a day with it and the camera before you shoot.
Guaranteed to help you a get the best images out of your camera as possible.
The only drawback to this book is the in the design of the pages - some designer thought it would be a nice look to put blue dots fading from the edges to the center - throughout most of the book! Obviously with no regard to how hard it makes it to read and the additional stress it puts on your eyes.

The information in this book is not only helping me get the most out of my AF-100, it's also teaching me alot about digital filmmaking in general. The info on using the built in focus assist tools alone was worth the price of the book. This is an absolute must read for anyone hoping to create stunning video using the AF-100 camera!
