The B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters incorporates an additional 8th layer over the regular MRC and results in a better beading effect with water for greater cleaning efficiency.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features the XS-Pro Digital mount which is specifically designed for DSLR use with wide angle and zoom lenses. The filter ring is made from brass for durability as well as jamming prevention.
Note: This filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size, and because of this you may be unable to attach the lens manufacturer's bayonet-mounted lens hood to the lens while using this filter. This is dependent on your specific lens and how thick the front rim of the lens is; with thinner, low-profile lenses usually being affected more.

Comments about B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter:
B+W costs more but worth every penny. Their quality includes a ring made out of brass for durability. I have never been disappointed by their products. The filter is a slim design and while the lens cap fits you need to double check that it is securely attached. This is not an issue.

Comments about B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter:
Bought this along with my most recent new lens, a Sigma 17-70mm. Very happy with this filter - thin profile, very good build quality. These are the only types of clear filters I will buy - simply the best.

Comments about B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter:
It's like it's not even there.
I use Olympus Zuiko lenses with great pleasure (traditional 4/3 HG for now, and eventually SHG if lucky), so wanted the lightest yet sturdiest protection possible without any degradation in image quality... Well, this is it!
I was also a bit afraid to have trouble inserting my lense caps, but everything fits perfectly.
I have thus ordered two more B&W XS-Pro clear & UV filters of different sizes, end of analysis!

Used on Canon 50 1.2L, cannot even tell there is glass or a filter as it is crystal clear. Perfect fit.

Comments about B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter:
I've purchased the B+W line of filters for all of my lenses (4). This one went on my Canon 50 1.2L. This was the first variation I've used in the "Nano" series. It is a bit thinner while retaining the ability to keep the lens cover attached firmly (like the thicker rimmed types). Of course the glass is completely clear meaning holding it up to the light it's barely noticeable there is glass between the metal ring! I selected the clear glass as a sole means of front lens element protection. BH and it's quick shipping methods were great as usual!

I use this filter to protect my Canon 85mm 1.2 lens. It fits perfect and minimally effects the quality of the pictures. B+W is the only brand filter I purchase.

Worth the price, this filter is crystal clear, it looks like it's not even there. It also has a front thread so I can easily layer other filters onto it if needed. The perfect lens protector.

I use the clear filter to protect my lens and provide a distortion free image. This has worked well for several hundred pictures that I have taken in the short time I received it.

Comments about B+W 72mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter:
Acting on the advice of a friend who's forgotten more about photography than I will ever learn, I've replaced the UV filter I was using with the lenses I use with my 35mm 1V with this one. I can't honestly say that I can see a difference in the photos, yet anyway. But the filter is a quality item and earns 5 stars for that alone.

Just bought this with a Canon 135L lens and i was quite surprised how clear the filter was, in fact at first site i did not think there was any glass at all; it is that transparent. the build quality is typical B+W. with that said i have decided to swap out all my protective filters on all my L lenses.
