Seriously, when you buy this thing with the RVM package you are getting a pretty nice 10ft boom pole for like $15. This isn't carbon fiber, and it isn't the fanciest thing in the world, but dang for the price in the package it is a steal.
The grippy area on the handle is nice and long so you don't have to decide exactly where to hold. The section locks are pretty good, not great, but totally useable.
The, somewhat, annoying thing that I saw right out of the box was that I had to use a light stand 3/8-1/4 reversal stud to make it possible to attach a cold shoe. The whole point of this thing is that it goes with the video mic right? Well...not exactly, the Video mic isn't 3/8 threaded, which the boom pole is. But the female reducer, some 1/4" threaded rod, wing nuts, and a cold shoe and I am in business. So, be aware this might not exactly work for you out of the box. If you have some lighting stuff laying around and you're money.

At less than seven feet, this boom pole is not useful in every situation, but it does the job in many cases. Keep in mind this pole is NOT made to receive and conceal the mic cable. You'll have to tie or Velcro the cable to the pole to keep it neat and out of frame.

Rated 5 Stars based on overall value. You won't find a better price on a decent boom pole. We use for run and gun. Some of our clients are intimidated by large equipment, we use this with our Rode Videomic Pro and it provides a nice low profile. The boompole is short enough to fit in with Tripods, etc.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I like the fact that this pole has a foam grip covering the lowest section - helps to eliminate handling noise. After attaching an XLR cable with some gaffers tape, this serves as a great all-purpose boom pole for ENG/EFP work.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
It works for the Rode mic. (Note the hole it goes in is behind the plate that slides on the camera.)
The only problem so far is that part of the extension doesn't want to unlock easily. I have to get a little rough with it for it to go back down.
I wish there was a way to attach the cord to the pole so it isn't dragging, but I may come up with a simple DIY to fix that.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
Bought this boompole to teach my students and it works great. The price was good and the kit that it came with was also complete. From my experience, I have always liked RODE products. The extends nicely, a little squeaky, but nothing that a little oil couldn't fix.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I needed a small boompole for field recording, and the Rode Micro is just right for the job. I've used it with my Fostex FR2-LE and a pair of CAD E70 pencil condensers to capture ambient sound (though that was a tad awkward, and I think it would work better with a single mic). I also plan to use it for recording interviews and live performances. 10-foot cables work best if you plan to extend the boom at all, at least with my setup. The Rode Micro Boom is definitely worth the price.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
The pole is a good length extended. It is light weight but the only issue I have found is that you have to maneuver yourself for the best positioning and not the head where the mic attaches to. Can become a problem at times.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I needed a smaller and less expensive boom pole to use when I travelled to shoot interviews on my 5D. This pole fits into my normal tripod bag and works great in combination with my Rode mic and Zoom H4N. I eventually want a Sennheiser lav set up but this was less expensive and I normally travel with a partner so one of us can run camera and the other can run sound. This pole is less expensive but well made enough to suit our purposes.

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
I'm not exactly sure why this is called the Micro Boompole because it's reach is pretty impressive to me. It's comfortable to hold, lightweight, extends easily and attaches to any of your Rode microphones with ease. I put the Stereo Video Mic Pro on the end of it and I get great results. And you can't beat that price!

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
The cheapest boompole out there! Its sure its not as sturdy as other boompoles, but it's also 1/3 the price! I would greatly recommend this to anyone who need a boompole for amateur sound recording. Not very suitable for pro use, as the pole is a bit flexible when you shake it too much, but still an excellent product!

Comments about Rode Micro Boompole - 3-Section Boom Pole:
This product was much better then expected! I got it for my short films, and was doing a bigger short film and needed a boom pole! This worked perfect with my Rode VideoMic Pro. Make sure to get the cord to extend it so it will reach your device you record into. I plugged into a Zoom H4n and it worked great! This thing is much more solid than I expected for only [$]! GREAT deal, and I highly recommend it! The only problem I see is some wear on the aluminum pole from sliding it in and out/extending it etc. But that is fine! For the price, this thing is great, and works like a charm!
