      BEST MONOPOD EVER!

Ditch the Manfrotto 561BHDV Monopod combo and buy this. It's cheaper, carries more weight than said monopod, much sturdier, and you won't be stuck with the non-removable fluid head.

I am a professional video cameraman and am using it with an EX3. It takes some getting used to, as the tilt and pan functions occur at the feet of the monopod, and not in the head (there isn't a head on this, just a plate). This makes a tilt a very big move that requires stepping or leaning forward or backward. As with any tool, it takes practice and getting used to the side-to-side instability takes time. However, for the price this is a very useful aid in getting steadier closeups on a longer lens, and at wider focal lengths makes for a very stable shot. It did require some WD40 for the base, as the ball was binding under the weight of the camera and creating a sticky spot during a move. The WD40 seemed to fix the problem, but how long it will stay lubed, I don't yet know.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod with 357 Quick Release:

A monopod with little feet!! Great for stability, like sports shoots or sunsets, where the camera must remain still. (tighten the lower ball).
I tried a few monopods, to me, this is the best one on the market, add a good ball-head and this can really make a light gear shoot go easily.
Having the soft feet is also nice for basketball shoots as they don't scratch or dig into the gym floors. But I also can fold them up and get a solid grip on the ground.

High Quality Monopod, exceptional build quality. I trust Manfrotto; this product specifically is made in Italy.

Using this in conjuction with my Manfrotto MV500AH Fluid Head. Works very nicely with this monopod; once you screw it on you dont really have to worry about it loosening up when you are panning ( that was orginally one of my concerns but I found it to be a non issue).

If you plan on doing super long exposures you prolly will also want to get a tripod as well. I like the Manfrotto 755xb Mdeve tripod; did a lot of research and found that one to be exceptional.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod with 357 Quick Release:

I have used this monopod for shooting Youth League Football games with a Nikon D810 w/ 70-200mm lens.

I love the fluid head and feet at the bottom. It allows smooth movement when following the subject. Even with the extra features, the monopod is still relatively lightweight. Great for shooting photos or video. Build quality is great, with adjustability.

The only Con I probably have is that it doesn't collapse as small as I would like it. I would prefer it to fit in my carry-on case along with My Manfrotto tripod.

This thing is well built but for $ for what is essentially just a stick I think it is over-priced. The fluid element doesn't work that good even with a regular DSLR, still jerky & the wrist strap is a joke, nowhere near long enough & is cheap & comes apart easily. No carrying bag or any means to fix a shoulder strap to it means extra outlay if you want it to be portable when not in use. Heard a lot of good reviews about it but to be honest I'm a little disappointed.

The Manfrotto 562B-1 Monopod is well made and strong enough to handle my larger Sony HD video camera. I'm very pleased with it. The plate connects easily to the camera and then slides on easily to the Monopod. I'm able to pan from side to side as I follow the action on the lacrosse field. Now the monopod carries the weight of the big camera and fatigue doesn't cause me to film the ground.

I specifically got this monopod to use for shooting wedding videos. With a standard tripod I just wasn't as mobile as I needed to be. If I needed to be stable in between church pews or in a tight corner a tripod just couldn't fit. This monopod is extremely portable and mobile. I see myself getting plenty of other uses out of it as well. I've tried pairing it with both my 701HDV and 502HD fluid heads and it works amazing with either of them. I do wish the center point where it can stand on it's own was easier to find and a little more stable but if I tighten up some screws this might be able to be improved. Also you can only expect so much stability if you're putting on a heavy head, camera, lens, mic, etc.

Great Monopod, very easy to use. You can notice if you put too much weight on it the pan sticks. I use the MVH500AH on it and love it.

I also own and use the 560B monopod and I purchased this one because it is capable of a higher work load. I have shot video with a Nikon D600 and a 70-200 lens with good results using this monopod. You can use this when a tripod is not allowed or impractical.

Ditch the Manfrotto 561BHDV Monopod combo and buy this. It's cheaper, carries more weight than said monopod, much sturdier, and you won't be stuck with the non-removable fluid head.

Great tool with some unique features that are detailed very well elsewhere.

I'll just say for people in the same boat as I was: if you are interested in creating your own 561BHDV by purchasing this and a separate video head (such as the 500) so that you can also use the head on tripod sticks- it IS possible.

You just need to use an allen wrench and a screw driver to remove the two things that look like they can be removed, and then the whole head comes right off.

But about the product- works great and allows for some unique moves.

I use this monopod to get steady shots with a little movement to them. It's great for run and gun work and you can change heights quickly. It holds a red epic with matte box well. I use it with a manfrotto 501 fluid head on it. I would definitely recommend this monopod.

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod with 357 Quick Release:

I wasn't sure from the picture if this was the same as the 561BHDV-1 leg but after receiving it I can say that it is. The QR plate unscrews easily and you can screw on any 3/8" tripod head you want. I already had a 701 head on a manfrotto tripod so I ordered this monopod and move the head between the two. As a bonus the real 701 head has a locking pan the 561BHDV-1 does not have a pan in the head. This means that I now have super smooth panning because I can pan at the base or at the 701 head. Also, I can buy a better head for my tripod in the future and use the 701 on the monopod. No point in buying the monopod with the cheap head if you already have really any head.

It almost goes without saying that this is a fantastic monopod for both photo and video and blows the doors off my other monopods. Loosen up the head and remove the panning arm on the head and your all setup to use this monopod for photos or fast panning with a long lens.

Only improvement would be if they added a shoulder strap that clipped to the top and bottom. I know I will be building one

Comments about Manfrotto 562B-1 Fluid Video Aluminum Monopod with 357 Quick Release:

I'm a photographer and cinematographer with 2-3 years of experience in the field. Over the years, I've tried different setups, rigs, cages, etc. And for my style, monopod seems to fit my needs which is the run & gun style. However they still tend to shake more specially when we get tired which heavily affects the footage. I was going to buy the Manfrotto 561BHDV Monopod + 701HDV Fluid Head Combo for twice the amount of this monopod, but I found this for a lot cheaper price (double the weight the 561BHDV can hold), spend the extra cash for a better fluid head (I just got a barely used 503HDV for cheap - some say it's not a true fluid head but I beg to differ + it can hold more weight than the 701HDV or 501HDV and other heads) and other equipment I need. It doesn't even bother me that I can't pan left to right with the 501HDV head, y'all are very picky to be honest. I'm happy with my purchase and you all should too.The only negative I could think of is the addition of the long plate with the adapter. I guess it's Manfrotto's way of pushing sales on the 561BHDV, but oh well. I contacted them, I was able to remove the annoying plate (held by a small screw under the plate), just replaced it with the 503HDV head and now I'm good to go for my next gig this weekend.
