Comments about Onkyo ABX-100 iOnly Play Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone:

I wanted to get something nice for the bedroom with good sound quality and no annoying hiss or noise like all the cheap active speakers have, when you actually have silence. I always had good experiences with Onkyo devices and I was happy when they introduced their iOnly devices counting on their good quality.

What can I say, it didn't work out. The usual hiss when there's suppose to be silence. That makes it really annoying when you listen to music in low volume and audiobooks. It actually seems to distort the signal at low audio volumes.

If you make it a bit louder it's still not good sound because it often hits the resonance frequency of the chassis which also sounds terrible (I tuned down the bass to a minimum).

If you're listening to your audio in 'normal' volume it sounds quite decent. But for this much money and the Onkyo tag I'd expect it to be decent in any volume and not just look nice.
The sensor buttons are sometimes a bit sluggish and occasionally the menu crashed all together and became unresponsive - pull the plug.

If I wouldn't have been too busy with other things I would have send the device back but I really had better things to do and it shouldn't be necessary altogether. I read lots of good review beforehand but that didn't help me.
