Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
For a music lover interested in rich, clear sounds and powerful bass, this is a great 2-channel receiver. It may not be the highest end model out there, but it has very effective bass and treble control knobs. A front-end USB port makes it incredibly easy to play music from an ipod. The reciver provides more than enough juice (it's hooked up to not overly expensive speakers without any subwoofers) to very nicely fill a 350 sf living room.

Great receiver! Drives my Bose speakers and has all the bells and whistles. The only con would be the FM antenna does not pick up signals very good. But other than that its very nice unit for the money. Good value

Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
Works great, just as advertised. Such a powerhouse at such a great price. Internet connectivity for my Pandora, network link up to my laptop's music library, awesome. New technology far surpasses what old unit did, but still does all the standard stuff well. Very pleased with every aspect so far. Initial setup of internet items took a bit longer than I would have liked but not horrible. Love it.

Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
After some research I decided on this unit to replace a Yamaha C-40 Pre-Amp which had a problem in the Phono circuitry. What a surprise when I received this unit and connected it. Can't do much better for the cost. When I connected my Dual CS5000 turntable, the sound of my vinyl was outstanding (very clear & clean). This unit drives 2 pairs of Ohm speakers. I like having a USB/iPod connection on the front of this unit. Do not like how the remote interfaces with the iPod; but in time, that will not be a problem. I have a Bose docking station for my iPod and the remote control for the TX-8050 does not work in the same manner. Make sure you disconnect the iPod from the TX-8050 before you turn off the TX-8050 because you'll end up with a frozen iPod. When disconnecting your iPod, it will automatically revert back to song #1 of your library. To date, these are the only negative comments I can make about the TX-8050. That is the only reason for a 4 star rating. At a later date, I will connect my TV's Home Theater System to this unit; but for right now, playing the CD, AM/FM, iPod, and the Phono thru this unit has been more than adequate.

Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
The TX-8050 is easy to use for normal play back from AM/FM Radio, and other audio components. Sound is excellent. Network accessible FM Stations are more complicated but worth the extra effort to learn. ( USB wirelsss device is needed -for a small amount). IPad2(or similar mobile device) app helps select stations and provides a better iterface to Network FM Stations. Zone 2 capability works great providing a second(parallel) music source for a remote location(room). I use a wireless transmitter for the Zone 2 source - works great!.

Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
I was replacing an old Kenwood stereo receiver and decided to get a network capable receiver. The receiver is dead quiet until a music source is played. We really like the the network capability and listen to many free sites. I hard wired the network connection using the ethernet jack. The one thing I wish the receiver had was three controlled recptacles as did my old receiver. The non-network capable Onkyo has them?

I love the internet radio v-tuner feature. While the unit is somewhat complicated to set up, it is very customizable. I liked the one I bought last year so I bought a 2nd one for a different location.

Comments about Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo A/V Receiver:
This receiver runs my 2 speaker set up with bunches of inputs. We have it installed in my large master bedroom connected to a pair of Cerwin Vegas with 15 inch bass speakers. My technophobic wife is the primary user so the controls and the remote had to be simple, and they are.
The only problem I have with this unit is the laborious sign in to internet radio stations. So time consuming that it's not worth the bother. But, to be fair, it really can't be done well without a keyboard.

I keep the stereo equipment in the closet. It is great that I can use my android phone to control the input and volume. I intended to use it mostly to access the music on my PC but have used been using Pandora instead. The android app is not as advanced as the iApp. Very please with the new purchase.
