The sound quality is pretty good, considering smaller drivers and the lower cost. After trying about half a dozen earbuds, these would have to be my favorite in the under forty dollar range. Some people like boomy, overwhelming bass. You won't get that from these. What you'll get is decently well defined lows, mids, and highs with very little distortion. They're a bit muddy sounding compared to the super high end earbuds out there, but for the price, you can't beat the acoustic quality. I would say these are the best bang for the buck.

The inline volume control is very nice. Although it feels a little flimsy and I'm not sure how it'll hold up, but works well and is a very nice feature.

I should also mention that the sound isolation design of these earbuds like many out there cause you to hear loud eating/chewing, touching the wire, etc. The sound isolation works VERY well. I hear very little of anything else except the music I'm playing. I missed phone calls when I was testing these out.

All in all, great set of headphones. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set or recommend them to a friend. AND they look really cool!

Though these are not meant to be high-end earbuds (even price says so) thus you can't really expect state of the art sound , they are still really bad quality even for the low price ones. A lot lot lot of noise...very weak bass...sound breaking badly at higher volume. I always had Sony earbuds in this price range , in last few years...several models. The ones I had just before I bought ex58v were ex36v (which were kind of older version of ex58v) and they were muuuuch better. So I for sure wouldn't recommend ex58v earbuds to anyone.

Comments about MDR-EX58V In-Ear Stereo Headphones with Volume Control (Red):

Bought these as a replacement for the pre-packaged earbuds that normally come with MP3 players. Great stereo sound & bass and the inline volume control is great for quick volume adjustments when you don't want to constantly take your player in & out of your pocket or bag. Be careful though as the cord is flimsy and tangles easily since it is very long. A little annoying but still worth buying at B&H's price!

They stay in your ears even while running. Three different size plugs to fit in any size ear. Sound almost as good as my more expensive ear phones. The volume control on the cord works great and is very convenient.

These are great for small ear cannals. These EX58V out proform the standard ear buds that come w/mp3 players to include apple ipods.
I don't usualy buy any buds that come w/a volume control so I'd advice the extra warrenty BH offers.

These headphones are awesome, they isolate noise incredibly well for just in-ear earphones. Music is always clear (not bose quality but for [$] it's amazing). Handles bass quite well but can rarelyyy sound airy depending on the track. Would HIGHLY recommend these, never had a pair of earphones this good.

Okay for everyday use but not perfect. I would rather go for something sporty but those are too expensive.I am a fan of SONY in case of headphones. delivers way better sound. this one is also a very good quality in terms of sound.5KHz - 23 Khz response means wide range frequency response from base to treble. I checked upto $40 worth headphones, this one has the widest response rate. sound quality is more important to me rather than how it looks like. This one doesnt look any cool, it looks like any other typical headphones.Because of flimsy build, i bought 2yr coverage for $4, still lot cheaper and better thn my previous $38 headphone.

these headphones sound great! i bought them for the volume controls that is on them. i only gave it 4 stars because although it has volume control they dont completely shut off the sound. so already noise cancelling but if someone tries to talk to you, you would have to take them out or have to did in your pocket to turn off the player.
they did nto fuction the way i thought they would.

Comments about MDR-EX58V In-Ear Stereo Headphones with Volume Control (White):

To prevent hearing damage these ear buds have the best volume control of any of the many brands I have tried. They are tiny and fit any size ear without the bothersome pain that buds with larger plastic sides induce. Their size is so tiny that they do not look obtrusive and the sound quality is excellent and very life like.
