I'm a professional bassist, keyboardist, and singer, and rely on in-ear monitoring to save my hearing and get the best possible on stage mix. I previously used the "standard" phones that came with my Shure wireless in-ear rig, and they finally failed after 3 years continuous use. The old standards were no longer available, so I checked out the SE215. To my delight they are WAY better than the originals for about the same price. These wrap around the top and behind the ear, and have a stiffener that can be adjusted to conform to your own contours. Very comfortable.Sound isolation is excellent. The outside world is inaudible, even when moving your jaw to sing. Cord noise transmission is also very low, due to the cord routing.Build quality is excellent. The cables appear indestructible, and are even replaceable. What's also nice is that the buds can rotate at the cord connection point, making them quite flexible while reducing the sharp cord bend coming out of the buds.Sound quality is excellent. Full, rich bass and crystal clear highs with no harshness or frequency bumps.Bottom line, these are the babies to get if you're looking for a true value in professional in-ear monitoring.

So I went to these after my dog ate my Klipsch Image S4s. While these definitely have more presence than the Image S4 (larger driver), I was slightly underwhelmed.

My hiphop definite sounds better because soundstage and clarity doesn't really matter. But when you are listening to vocals or jazz, the highs are just too muddled. The lows are heavy handed and linger and tend to drown out the already lacking highs.

So, if all you listen to is dubstep and hiphop, grab them! Certainly better than Beats or Boses. If you want something more musical, I'd have to say skip. I would recommend them with these reservations.

Also, they are really hard to put on...

I replaced some old Shure E3's with these and couldn't be happier. The frequency range is way better and a detachable cable is an improvement. I don't think there could be much better option in this price range. They have imnproved the foam tips since I bought the E3's a I like them much better.

Tried these and thought they sounded pretty good. They came with foam plugs already on them and it took me a while to change them. I then realized how well made they were. Also, they seem to be a little large. Could be because of how they wrap over my ears. Takes some getting used to. A lot of people love these. They are well worth a listen.

Comments about Shure SE215 Sound-Isolating In-Ear Stereo Earphones (Black):

I think these are okay. They sound good, but are very large and bulky. My old headphones cost about the same and also sound good at half the size. The cable seems thicker and the in-ear part seems large. The headphone jack is too large to fit in the headphone plug while the phone case on the phone. Don't hate them. Don't love them either.

I use the earphones to listen to spoken word first and music second, connecting to an iPhone. I had a Sure set of earphones that I lost and this was to be a replacement. The previous set was very good but lacked a mic.
This new set probably has greater fidelity than my old one in the higher trebble areas but lacks bass even for spoken word making it sound tinny. The sound is a bit harsh and not particularly welcome. Sound isolation is good. I decided to return it and looked for a different replacement; the music I listen to is classical, which doesn't require a booming bass but some modicum of base is needed.

Comments about Shure SE215 Sound-Isolating In-Ear Stereo Earphones (Black):

It offers great noise isolation. If someone is next to you talking, you'll barely notice it. You won't be able to hear anything with music on so you'll be able to enjoy your music much more. Not being able to hear anything might feel a bit weird or uncomfortable at first, but you'll get used to it. The earphones itself is very comfortable and I can wear these for long periods of time. I just love the Shure foam earbud sleeves. The cable noise is very minimal unlike other IEMs. Some people may complain about the cable being too long, but I'm a tall guy and I think it's a good size. If you're like 5 feet or less, this product may not be for you since the cable will be longer than you.My only complaint so far is that sometimes the audio cuts out because the cable is detachable. You can easily fix it by tightening it again. What I love most about this earphone is that it doesn't fall out easily. Even if you have it attached to your phone, and you drop your phone, it won't fall out. The earphone will stay connected to your phone and that saves you from damaging your phone. It doesn't work if you're short though. :)

After read some review , i decided to buy SE215 to replace my iPod Gen 5 earphone.

I replaced the tips with smaller size to make more comfortable .After Burn in 24 hours , I started to listen some jazz music (Smooth jazz and Diana Krall).
Compare to new iPod earphone SE215 delivered more musical, wide sounstage and layer.Bass not too tight and deep but enough, listening music through this IEM become more fun.

Busy SE215 is an easy step to improve your sound from your exsting gear, without spend lot of money.

I bought these earphones for my brother-in-law, who is super picky, and I got his "stamp of approval"! He did all of research on earphones and these came out on top for sound, clarity and noise canceling. Phew! He was super excited to receive these as a gift and said that he was really happy with their performance.

They are the most accurate, comfortable earphones I've ever owned and at around $100, they are absolute bargain. The easily replaceable [$]cord, they have blown all of my expectations completely away.

I wear these at work all the time. I tried lots of earphones with or without noise reduction. Those are the first which actually kill the voices of my noisy colleagues, even without music! It's a little miracle.

Very good sound for the price. Fit is good, and while some people have had trouble, mine are snug and work perfectly with the medium foam plugs that were on them out of the package. Low profile allows me to wear them under earmuffs for even greater isolation while I'm drumming; I can get a good clean reproduction of the mix and avoid hearing damage. The isolation from the phones themselves is good enough that I expect them to be well suited for airline travel.

I listen mostly to podcasts or movies rather than music. These do well. The cords have some extra stiffness around the ear making them a little more secure.

In short, this is a really great pair of IEMs for $. I got these as my new "out-and-about" IEMs to replace my Etymotic Research hf5 when they died after 2 years of use. The SE215 come with a nice selection of ear-bud options, and they isolate well enough to listen to music at a comfortable level while walking down a busy street or riding a loud bus (though I imagine a triple flange like the hf5 would do even better). One of the best parts: detachable cord. Easy to replace if anything goes awry. And the cord itself is nice and sturdy (without being bulky), and it doesn't tangle. My only "gripe" is these headphones take a bit of effort to put on. You have to squeeze the foam ear-bud to compress it, then insert it into your ear (I recommend holding it in place while the foam expands), and then loop the cord up around the back of your ear. Pretty simple really, but since I'm frequently taking them on and off between classes, it's a noticeable difference as compared to popping in other IEMs. However, the plus side to this configuration is that the SE215 fits very comfortable on the ear and the microphonics are minimal. One other note: bass is a little heavy. Upper mids/treble could be a little clearer for my taste, but we're talking about $ IEMs here to be used mostly for on-the-go listening. If you're looking for IEMs for concentrated home listening, I'd recommend looking at the SE315 or other improved models. One more plus: 2 year warranty!

First off, I bought these IEMs because I was looking primarily for something sturdy and reliable. I wanted something I could take on train trips and use during long stretches of work in coffee shops and open offices, so noise isolation and comfort were next on my list. Finally, sound quality needed to be good but not necessarily audiophile-grade.I have used this product for approximately two weeks, usually for 1-2 hour stretches but occasionally for longer (3-4 hours, 2x a day). During this time I've never experienced the fatigue or irritation that I experienced with other IEMs.The cables are very sturdy and the earphones feel that way too. The earphones are large but they rest comfortably in the outer ear--when both earphones are in, there is minimal "tug" and no cable noise. My only complaints would be (1) that the weight is noticeable if you try to only use one earphone--the weight of the other starts to pull it out-- and (2) since the cables are detachable they spin around at the connection point and need adjustment each time to loop over the ear. Minor issues.I tried a lot of the different in-ear sleeves at the beginning, but ended up going back to the medium foam "olives" that were mounted on the earpieces to begin with. For me, the foam provided the most comfort and isolation relative to the other type of sleeves, as well as the most balanced sound. They also make it easy to insert the IEMs in your ears, as you can mush the foam down before inserting them in the same way you insert earplugs. The sound is good too--it feels pretty balanced and neutral. Previous IEMs I used tended to be bass-heavy, which has its appeal, but since switching to the Shures I'm noticing a lot more detail in the music without even focusing on it. I mostly listen to instrumental music from a variety of genres (hip-hop, jazz, classical, Indian classical, electronic), so the added detail has let me find greater complexity in a lot of music that seemed "simple" before. The carry case is also nice, and I appreciate the carabiner clip. I left my previous pair of IEMs on the train, so now I clip the case to a belt loop whenever I pull them out of my bag. It's good insurance to make sure I don't leave them behind on the seat.Overall, I'm very pleased with these IEMs and I would definitely buy them again.

Sound quality is really good. I've owned both Etomyotic and Klipch and these are on par if not better. I've heard nuances in music from these earphones that I didn't know existed. The feature that sold me is the detachable/replaceable cable. I use my earphones to exercise and have had all of my previous headphones short out. At least if these do I can simply replace the cable. Getting used to putting these on is probably the only negative but that gets easier as you become more familiar with them.

Comments about Shure SE215 Sound-Isolating In-Ear Stereo Earphones (Black):

I like to use ear buds for the gym/snowboarding/ and long flights mostly. Over the last 10 years of different shure, sony, and denon headphones these are my favorite. I really like the detachable buds and the controls on the cable.
