The VW-BC20 Charger operates ok with no problems. It charges the two sizes of the Panasonic proprietary batteries VW-VBN130 & VW-VBN260 in a few hours. There is a dim green LED that is on when charging and turns off when it's done. It should have had a red or yellow LED for charging and a green for complete.
It's not heavy or overly built, the A/C cable is stiff and fights you when packing it away. The charging box feels very light and slides off slick tables easily. Pulled around by it's firm cable.
I purchased this charger because the Panasonic HDC-TM900k Camcorder will not work with generic batteries. Without a large supply of cheap batteries I would need more charging than just the camera itself. I read that Panasonic wanted to make up profit in the accessories and developed a simple system to defeat battery clones. So they win... I'm fighting back by getting more Panasonic accessories.

Hurrah! Now I can charge my spare batteries while I am using my camera. The supplied charger that comes with the HDC-SD800 will only allow you to charge the battery while it is mounted on the camera, rendering the camera useless while the battery is charging. Pretty dumb Panasonic. This accessory charger does the job and is worth the cost as you are free to use your camera while a spare is charging in the background. The negative is a very slow charge time. For the standard battery that gives one hour of use when recording 1080p, it takes about 2 hours to recharge the battery. A quick charge battery would be nice. Also, why is a long 120v power cord needed. Suggest this is eliminated by including integrated outlet prongs on the back of the charger. Overall, not impressed with Panasonic's understanding of customer needs with their new line of camcorders that has eliminated the stand alone charger.

I like charging batteries removed from the camera.
I've read that it is better to do this. Not sure...I like not having my expensive camera settting out on a desk or counter top while charging. Also very convinent - I leave the charger plugged in all the time...no need to get cables out of the camera case.

I bought 2 VBN and 2 VBG battery from B&H with this charger. The battery label show Made in Japan, but the battery inside is Made from China.
Not all China products are bad, but most China product are bad. You understand what I meant. The charger has nothing to do with the batterỵ.

This product arrived quickly, didn't have too much packaging (yay!), and works well! There are no flimsy cords or cables, just one thick power cord that attaches to the main charger. Both fit easily into my pelican case with my video camera. It has a built in change of charge so that you don't need to worry about voltages if you travel, which I do.
Especially after my regular cord quit on me, this was an essential item, and I am definitely satisfied!

All the images I've seen of this charger is just like it is here, just the little brick. I had assumed it would have the pop out prongs like some of the other Panasonic chargers and would be convenient to travel with. The huge box that this charger came with negated that notion. What isn't shown is the very long cord that is the other half of this charger system. Well, at least it works.

I have a Panasonic HDC-TM900 High Definition Camcorder. Normally the battery can only be charged through the camera. The charger allowes me to charge a spare battery while the camera is in use or charge two batterys at once. It takes approx 2 hours to charge the VW-VBN130 and approx 4 hours to charge the VW-VBN260. This is a bit slow but it enhances life span of the expensive lithium-ion batteries.

Although the Panasonic camera does do in camera charging, I wanted to have a second source so I could be sure I had several batteries charged up every day. It does the trick and is as fast as the in camera charging. You can easily tuck it into a corner of your suitcase or carry on bag and not lose any space for that extra pair of sox. It has a nice long cord too.
