The Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Nikon Camera provides advanced flash technology in a slim design and at an affordable price. This flash offers straightforward performance with all controls intuitively arranged on the back panel. With a maximum guide number 44 for ISO 100/21° and 105mm, this flash delivers the power needed in various lighting conditions in TTL mode.
Among its controls is the ability to set 4 partial light levels according to a particular lighting scenario. The photographer also has the ability, depending on the camera, to synchronize to the first or second shutter curtain for greater flexibility in the lighting process.
This flash also offers a slave mode which, depending on the camera, makes it possible to perform wireless TTL flash operation. Other flash enhancing controls include a motor zoom function (24-105mm), a fully swiveling reflector with flip-out reflector card, and an integrated wide-angle diffuser (12mm). A USB port enables firmware updates for future compatibility.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Nikon Camera:
This is my first flash and compared to a Nikon flash this is good value for money. If I need more elaborate flash settings and multiflash use I would buy Nikon flashed, but for fill flash and occational use this is perfect.

I haven't had the unit very long, so I haven't used it very much, but it has performed exactly as I would wish in the instances that I have used it.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Nikon Camera:
This is a good flash that is not too big.
Compared to Metz 54, SB900, 580EX it is quite small actually.
Recycles fast, USB firmware update worked fine.
I purchased this particular model especially to avoid dealing with LCD and bunch of controls in the flash.
It only has 5 buttons to set up all of its functions. Rest is done in the camera.
It bounces and swivels, works fine with diffusers/white cards and reflectors.
Very good buy.

Comments about Metz 44 AF-1 mecablitz Digital Flash for Nikon Camera:
I am a first-year art major, and recently purchased this flash for a class. Though I'm a beginner at photography, I found it straight-forward and easy to use. It handles well and the swivel head easily snaps into place. I thought it was going to be big and bulky, but when I got it, I found it was much more stream-lined. I've mostly used it for fill light in portraits up to now, but look forward to experimenting with it in other ways. The results I've gotten so far are great! And all for a pretty decent price. Can't complain as of yet!
