I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon does not have a rugged waterproof camcorder. I decided to take a stab at this, because Coleman is definitely a tried and tested brand when it comes to the outdoors. At 1080P the video recording is fine. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the results are great. I have used it around and in water. I am planning to use this for our Disney World vacation this year in the various parks. This camera takes 8MP stills, so now I have a camera that can take video and stills on demand wet or dry. It has a 5MP sensor, so the 8MP is an interpolated image; still comes out looking decent. I have other cameras in the same category like Flip and Samsung both do not compare, even at 720p 60 frames per second. [$] pricetag is also very affordable. Easy to carry, very user friendly to move files from the camera to the computer or directly to Youtube. Nightvision would be nice but most of my recordings will be in Daylight. Bottom line great camera and I have no cons to talk about.

I am really sorry to have to write a negative review about this camera. It is compact. It takes great HD video (particularly in the 720P setting). The still pics are adequate. It functions great under water. So, what is negative?
The movies (.MOV format) cannot be edited in any software that I have. In Sony Vegas Studio 9 the sound and the pictures are not in synch. In Pinnacle HD 14 and in Avid Studio there is no (zero; zip) sound at all. None. Silent movies. I can open the .MOV files in QuickTime 7 Pro and export to .AVI format and then edit in Pinnacle Studio and Avid Studio (with audio) but that is more work than I really think ought to be needed to edit movies from a new digital camera. And, to boot, the exported AVI file is 4:3 and no longer 16:9.
The camera is also very difficult to hold steady. There is no flash but in fairness, I knew that. In anything less than ideal light conditions, the still shots are blurry (due to slow shutter speed). In ideal circumstances, the movies are shaky because it is difficult to hold steady. And, to compound the issue, the brighter the light (i.e., better pics) the harder it is to see the LCD screen on the back of the camera to frame the pics.
This camera is a real disappointment. I had such high hopes for this little camera that I not only bought one for myself but also one for my grandson to take with us on a Grand Canyon rafting trip. Alas, I will have to look for another waterproof camera to take on that trip.

Bought for artistic 14 year old daughter and she loves it. The only problem is you cannot use it right out of the box becuase you need to buy a mini-memory card.

Comments about Waterproof HD Pocket Video Camera (Yellow):
The battery life is horrible. Filming for an extended amount of time on HD drains the battery within 20 minutes. Otherwise very good and easy to use. Also, no tripod stand and the bottom has a weird clip that makes it impossible to balance camera standing up (incredibly inconvenient).

Whenever I hit the road, this little viceocam is with me. And I'm often on the road. Great HD quality, and WATERPROOF. I've not used it under water yet, but it's attached to the motorcycle, AND I'm living in the tropics. That should tell you enough. A heavy tropical downpoor while cruising at 60 mph is probably worse than a dip under water.
I just live it!
Next May it will go with me on a 15,000 km journey throughout India, from tropical swamps over hot deserts to freezing Himalayan mountains. Actually that's the reason I bought it in the first place. It will help to make a 3-hour documentary DVD, particularly with the 'on-the-road' shots.

I did not like the fact that this camera does not have a flash. I don't really know why I didn't pay attention to this when I bought it - my bad!. The video quality is good although "too shaky" (it should have a sensor or something - image stabilization - to alleviate this problem). When recording under water, the audio is just terrible! Photo quality may be good at 8 MP, but to get a good pic without getting it "shaky" is extremely difficult [*]. Photo quality is very low compared to other cheap cameras. I mean, I was not really expecting the quality of a SLR, but the results are far away from what I was expecting of the device. In addition, the device has a sticker over 3 dots that are supposed to be the speaker. I guess Coleman did this on purpose since there is no audio output going through this 3 hidden holes at all. To conclude my review, I have to say that the sticker I just mentioned says: "YouTube Direct Upload ... Easily Upload HD Videos to YouTube". Liars! There isn't a single function in the device that "easily uploads the videos to YouTube!

Comments about Waterproof HD Pocket Video Camera (Yellow):
My main gripe is the lack of a tripod mount. This is an easy to use video camera with pretty basic functionality.
The 1080p video isn't all that sharp or smooth, but for such a small underwater camcorder, it's good. I've seen people say it has a 720p 60fps mode... this is not true... it has a 848x480 60fps mode.
Alkaline AA batteries last a good amount of time when compared to other digital cameras that use AAs.(advantage of low power CMOS sensor)
If your expecting BluRay quality videos, this is not for you.
Otherwise, it's great.

I used this on a recent whitewater kayaking trip. It worked wonderfully and 2 AA batteries lasted all weekend. The HD quality is actually HD. For the price, I was pleasantly surprised.
Pros: Picture Quality, Battery Life, Price, Definitely waterproof (I was upside down multiple times in the water)
Cons: Audio is weak, water doesn't come off the lens quickly when wet and makes images blurry (have to wait a few minutes to dry), not many movie editors available for .MOV format

Amazing quality. I bought this specifically for my cruise in the Caribbean and was pleasantly surprised. I never thought I would be able to take underwater video in 1080p. I also shot some video in 720p in 60fps - the 60fps makes it look unbelievably clear and smooth. The still shots came out nicely too, just wish there was some optical zoom on this and an image stabilization feature. All in all, a great piece.
