The Olympus PT-050 Underwater Housing for XZ-1 Camera allows you to take your XZ-1 under the waves, all the way down where the water pressure reaches the equivalent of 140' (40 m). All of the compact camera's controls – such as zoom and flash mode – remain accessible, thanks to housing that was designed especially for this camera model.
For generating the necessary supplemental light underwater, the housing features an optical connection for attaching a cable to an underwater strobe, so you can slave your outboard flash (not included) to your internal one. For softening and spreading out the effect of the camera's internal flash, the PT-050 includes an attachable diffuser.
The PT-050 case is constructed of durable polycarbonate, so your XZ-1 will be protected on land as well as underwater. The PT-050 includes everything you need to take the plunge with the XZ-1, including a hand strap, an O-ring, a diffuser, a silica gel pack, silicone grease, an LCD hood, and a lens cap for the housing.

Comments about Olympus PT-050 Underwater Housing for XZ-1 Camera:
Had my first dive with this housing and the new XZ-1 camera. Since my strobe is in the shop I used the internal flash and focus lights. The quality of the photos was remarkable. This is certainly an upgrade from my pt-023 housing and C-8080 camera.

Comments about Olympus PT-050 Underwater Housing for XZ-1 Camera:
This housing is streets ahead of the Canon equivalent offering for the S95/S90; Panasonic do not make a housing for their LX5 and what you can buy from third parties are far too expensive.
I have used the Canon S95/S90 and various other Panasonic Lumix housings for three years now and consider the Olympus PT-050 superior in every respect. The rear buttons are made oversized, bright red with clear icons to distinguish their function which for the other housings are very difficult to see. The shutter release is again oversized and easy to use even with 5mm gloves. The locking mechanism is precise and closes reassuringly with confidence. The front of the casing is black and designed to eliminate any internal reflections due to the flash firing and the stray light that can enter the front lens. The Panasonic Lumix housings suffer from this quite badly where images in bright light show reflections in every image. There is a detachable rubber light shield surrounding the rear OLED screen which makes it that much easier to view and review images.
However, by far the best feature is the 67mm lens screw which is the 'standard' for underwater photography for cameras of this class. This allows the attachment of 'wet' filters and lenses whilst underwater making this a much more versatile housing than any of the nearest competition.
The housing is positively buoyant so that if you should lose it it will float to the surface. I have already taken it down to 37 metres (115 feet) and it performed flawlessly. There is plenty of room inside for silica gel sachets which are provided with your purchase.
I am extremely happy with this purchase and take pride in showing off it's impressive feature list to my dive buddies who are by now green with envy.
I have no negative comments to make regarding this housing and can only suggest that Olympus also supply a few weights to help make the camera neutral or negatively buoyant for those that prefer it that way.
