The black Lino Pro V Messenger Bag from Manfrotto is a slightly smaller version of Manfrotto's Pro VII Messenger Bag. With this "stow-and-go" bag, you can be up and out the door, ready for that international or cross country flight. With a more than respectable gear capacity of a DSLR with mounted 70-200 lens, plus four other lenses, laptop, standard and pocket tripods, flash and general accessories, this is a bag to be reckoned with for anyone who needs a multi-functional, weather-resistant bag. But why is it multi-functional? Not only is it a well-designed shoulder bag but it can also leave you hands-free when set up as an over-your-shoulder sling-type bag. The included buckle and strap that change the bag from one style to the other provide extra carrying support during longer durations.

The bag is made from rugged, weather-resistant, high-quality nylon along with a lovely touch of stylish Italian leather. No need to be worried about being caught in various weather conditions since a fold-out rain protector is included to protect you from unexpected rain, wind or snow. Water-resistant zippers are coated so that no moisture will seep in. The outside of the bag is affixed with tripod connectors that eliminate the need for a separate, standard tripod bag. And if you use a pocket tripod, the inside of the bag contains two integrated pockets that are perfect for fitting both sizes of Manfrotto pocket series tripods.

Let's look inside and see what the bag offers. Not only is it spacious enough for your DSLR with a mounted 70-200 plus 4 other medium-sized lenses, flash and numerous accessories, but no photographer these days travels without his laptop. The Lino Pro V Messenger Bag is rated to hold a 15.4" (39.1cm) laptop as well as most Apple 17" (43.2cm) laptops -stored in its own, separate padded compartment. Needless to say, the bag will also accommodate computer support accessories like cables, batteries, cards and more. The central gear compartment is equipped with Manfrotto's touch fastened Flexi-Dividers that permit you to sculpt the bag into whatever configuration you prefer. That 70-200 I mentioned earlier is held firmly in place by Manfrotto's "L" Camera Bracket that supports the camera and lens in a face-down, secure and ready-to-shoot position. For pens, maps, business cards, iPhone and similar small-sized items, there is a handy separate slip-in style storage pocket compartment.

This is also an excellent shooting bag. The "wow" feature is that you can open the bag from the top without having to unzip the entire system exposing it to surrounding, curious eyes. Merely unhinge the touch fastened top panels and you'll be able to withdraw your mounted 70-200, get the shot, slip the camera back inside, close the flaps and keep going.

For ease of carrying, the Lino Pro V Messenger Bag comes with a comfortable shoulder strap containing an over-sized, padded cushion. Dual hand carry straps are also provided for when you need to quickly grab the bag from your car trunk. Best of all, a special buckle and strap are included that change the Pro V into a sling-style bag. If you're using the bag in a shooting mode, this feature permits you to remains hands-free - so when you pull your camera out from the top of the bag, you won't have to be concerned about the bag getting in your way while working.

This Lino Pro V bag certainly looks great and doesn't give away that your hauling your cameras and gear. It's well-built with strong materials. The leather accents gives it a nice touch but the magnets that holds down the front flap could be stronger but not a big deal.

In the main compartment, I can fit my Canon 7D with grip and EOS 3 with PB-E2. And with a 24-70mm, 50mm, 70-200mm, 580 EX flash and a few 35mm films. The front pockets can hold batteries, sd cards, filters and a light meter. A zippered back pocket fits my 8x12 portfolio nicely that I always bring along.

It's quite heavy with all the stuff that I have in there but the bag handles it greatly. The price is a little steep but it's worth it and should last for a while.

I was looking for a messenger style bag with class and this is definitely that bag. Although it is well made, as you expect from a Manfrotto product. it may be TOO well made. Getting inot the bag requires unzipping, then opneing one velcro 'lock', followed by a 2nd velcro closure. If you need to get your gear out quickly, this is not the bag for you. It also is not big enough to carry a pro body with lones attached, as advertised.

It can handle smaller bodies, but I don't own any of those. That means packing the DSLR w/out a lens.

The interior is pluch, but awlward for carrying much more than the absolute minimum gear. I've been able to cram my 70-200, 85 and 50mm lenses in the bag, with 1 speedlight.

That works for many shoots, but getting the gear out takes planning...and time.

The side pocket flap has magnettic closures which rarely work and the interior pockets are hard to access. They are aslo set up in strange way, so carrying accessories is not as simple as it should be.

The bag doesn't have end poackets, so there is no simle way to carry things like cell phones, keys, etc.

All that said, I still enjoy the buld quality and look of this bag very much. I've had more than one client comment on the look of it, and even more so when they discovered it was a camera bag!

So,if style matters this bag is for you. If function and utility are your main concern, maybe not so much.

Comments about Manfrotto Lino Pro V Messenger Bag (Black):

I have a few laptop bags and a Manfrotto Agile camera sling, but I wanted a larger bag to carry more gear and still fit a laptop comfortably.

After seeing this on sale here for significantly less than other sites, I had to have it!

I like the look and though it's thick, it's not really bulky. Under the front flap is a thin zippered area that I'd only keep thin things (lens wipes, filters) in since the magnets that affix it are at the bottom of the flap and are quite weak. If you put anything thick in that front flap pocket, the flap won't lay flat. Maybe it's not a big deal to some people.

The top has two pull handles that unzip as well as a velcro closure in the center for extra security. There are basically three "silos" inside that can be used for lenses and a body. There's also a padded "L" that can be used to wrap around and support a body with lens attached. I use the center for my Sony a57 with 16-50/f2.8 attached. The left and right hold a 50mm prime, cleaning tools, and a 75-300mm.

Lastly the rear (faces your body) has a separate laptop compartment (great for getting through airport security) that should comfortably hold a 15.6" laptop. I currently use it for my Surface Pro or books/magazines.

The strap unfortunately has a fixed pad, but it is centered. You can adjust the left and right side of the straps, however I don't think you can really adjust the attachment points for the additional support strap, so it may end up in an awkward place. I haven't had to use that additional support strap yet, though.

Overall, it's a great bag for carrying your gear and a laptop in a stylish, low-key fashion.

I am an event photographer and need to carry certain equipment with me when I cover an event alone, but not all my gear. This bag holds what I need yet allows me to work with it on my shoulder. It will be great to travel via airplane as it holds my 15 inch laptop too. It took a while to figure how to get my 70-200mm in it, as the height is too short, but it works across the bottom. I look forward to a long partnership with this bag

Comments about Manfrotto Lino Pro V Messenger Bag (Black):

Being a newbie to this business it has become evident that a great shoot requires necessary equipment. Most of the time I don't need to bring everything to a shoot so my storage bag is overkill and my walk-around day to day candid pouch is not enough. This bag allows me to have the lenses, flash, and even a notebook along with bizcards and twig trimmers that just might be handy. As the shoot becomes more specific so will what goes in the bag! It has me ready for the job!

Comments about Manfrotto Lino Pro V Messenger Bag (Black):

I bought the bag to carry my 4/3 gear. It worked great for organizing and accessing the equipment. The bag is really well made except for two small magnets that are designed to hold a covering flap to the bag. They are undersized and do not do the job especially if you are carrying a monopod or tripod. If they add a magnet to the middle of the flap and enlarge the two smaller magnets this bag would be impossible to beat. Too bad it is now discontinued.

Comments about Manfrotto Lino Pro V Messenger Bag (Black):

I ordered this bag because of how good it looked on line and the reviews I read. Boy, was I in for a surprise. As soon as I opened the box I saw it was not only huge, but very heavy. I could not imagine dragging it full through China. The bag is stiff and the zippers are very difficult to open. Between the Velcro and the stiff zippers it would be a pain accessing your camera.

The interior is nice but again, very large. My D7100 w/ 18-200 would be lost in there. Overall, it's a nice piece of luggage, but a terrible camera bag. Oh, I left out the fact that the very weak magnets that hold the front flap closed don't do much of a job. And if you attach a tripod the flap won't close at all.

Do yourself a favor and take a pass on this one. Unfortunately, with return shipping it will have cost me a bit to see this bag. From now on I'll only order what I've already seen in person!

I placed my entire Leica M9 system in the bag and it accommodated everything including 6 lenses, a flash, memory cards and extra batteries. It was designed just to take the smaller Leica system and nothing more. The magnetic latch flap only functions with the right amount of accessories placed in the side and you do have to be sensible in it's placement. The bag's quality stands out and the design shows some consultation from minimalist camera buffs. It is not overly spacious but it is instinctively provided with ample space.

Comments about Manfrotto Lino Pro V Messenger Bag (Black):

Well made and designed. Black leather trim adds sophistication and durable protection. It is a professional bag for certain. This one is the right size for one body and multiple lenses, couple of speedlights, laptop computer and small accessories. Personally I don't want to carry more. This camera bag should last for years and adequately protect my gear without concern in car or plane, though I would prefer to carry on than check in. The magnetic clasp works fine so don't know what the other reviewer meant unless he wasn't packing a laptop and stuffed something else in the side compartment that bulged. Only thing I don't like is the high price and Manfrotto's arbitrary pricing discounts that are inconsistent among retailers. Also Manfrotto's customer support is not known for responsiveness.
