Product Highlights
  • For Celestron CGEM or CGE Pro Mounts

The AC Adapter - 5 Amp (CGEM, CGE Pro) from Celestron is made exclusively for their CGEM and CGE Pro mounts. It is designed to provide continuous power to the mount when an AC outlet is available. The barrel connector on the DC plug threads directly onto the mount's power jack and prevents power-offs due to the cable being inadvertently pulled out. It delivers up to 5 Amp @ 12 VDC which is sufficient power to run the CGEM or CGE Pro mounts loaded with heavy equipment. The switching-type, AC-to-DC power adapter, provides more power with less weight than a transformer-style adapter.

  • Works with Celestron CGEM or CGE Pro only
  • Threaded barrel connector on DC plug prevents power-offs due to inadvertent cable pulls
  • Delivers up to 5A @ 12 VDC, plenty of power to run Celestron's biggest mounts with heavy loads
  • Switching-type AC-to-DC power adapter provides more power with less weight than transformer-style power adapter

Comments about Celestron AC Adapter - 5 Amp (CGEM, CGE Pro):

Got it for a CGEM DX and a Nexstar 8SE. Work fine with both. The difference with the other Celestron AC adapter (# 18778) is that it is more powerful (5A instead of 2.5A), it has an AC ground, and the AC input is 100-240V (useful if you travel). Note that it is labeled "for indoor use only".

for backyard astronomers. Plenty of AMPS to spare for powered telescope accessories. Does NOT overheat even on prolonged usage and heavy load.

Comments about Celestron AC Adapter - 5 Amp (CGEM, CGE Pro):

Sorry, I cannot recommend anything Celestron - Too many defective products. This simple power supply had the 12V power plug polarity reversed out of the box and it would not operate anything. Cutting and splicing the 12V wires corrected the defect so the power block now can operate my telescope mount, but why should a customer be required to do that? B&H, however, shipped promptly and correctly, as usual. No complaints there.
