Comments about Manfrotto 509HLV Pan Bar for Video Heads:

Having a second handle is a requiremen, not a luxury, for sports productions. This handle works just as advertised and the telescoping feature makes it just about perfect.

Comments about Manfrotto 509HLV Pan Bar for Video Heads:

Works good with JVC 600. Likes: Smooth zoom, pretty responsive iris and focus adjustment. If you plan on using it with an adjustable pan bar like me then buy the clamp and extension cable. The only button that doesn't work for me is the standby button but that's not a big deal. Dislikes: the zoom control is better than the varizoom but not as good as a 5 pin control like on the bayonet type lenses. When you are changing speed in the middle of a zoom there is a bit of a jump but all in all for a lan-c zoom control it is good. I still gave it 5 stars.

Comments about Manfrotto 509HLV Pan Bar for Video Heads:

This product works fine on a 501 head, but you have to take off the screw assembly that comes with it and use the screw assembly that came with your 501 head. The screw size is different and the grip part that is sawtooth shaped is also different, but the hole for the pole is the same size. So don't buy for the 501 head unless you already have an assembly you can use for this handle. The handle extends nicely, as it should.

Comments about Manfrotto 509HLV Pan Bar for Video Heads:

Palm Sunday I was shooting in a large auditorium with my camera perched on an 8ft high tripod. For an hour and ten minutes I was doing close following of a speaker on the stage. Reaching up above my head to the pan bar that came with my tripod I thought my arms were going to fall off and I had to constantly switch arms and rest against the tripod, The next day, Monday I ordered the 509HLV Pan Bar that extends to 24" because I was going to be shoot the same set up on Easter Sunday. That extra ten inches really made a difference.
