The Midi light attaches to the hot shoe of your camera – or to a 3/8"-16 screw on a lighting stand or tripod. Dual female attachments enable the Midi to be mounted either vertically or horizontally; this double attachment also means the Midi can be attached to other lights in a larger system.

I use this for video with Canon DSLR. It works great to put just that extra bit of light into the shot. Don't expect It to be a light used for an entire scene... it is very directional and compared to a studio light it just doesn't have enough reach or volume to expose an entire shot. The dimmer is awesome, and the killer feature for this light. If it wasn't for that, a $10 LED work light from an autoparts store would work just as well. Don't misunderstand, This is a positive review... it works for what it is intended, just keep your expectations real.

I waited for this product over 1 year since it was announced but unfortunately I am very disappointed.
First, contrary to the description of H&B web site the product that I received had neither AAA batteries nor a ball mount.
Battery compartment is very difficult to open, I have almost broken the cover trying to open it - I think it will break eventually.
At full power the light starts to blink. The instructional booklet includes many languages but does not give any explanations for blinking.
Also, I expected the light to be brighter. Unfortunately it is not powerful for what I intended it (close-up macro photography/videography).
I will have to return it for a refund and I cannot recommend it for professional work.

The light has a filter Slot , this vey important you have to buy the filters and cut them, This is a spot type, so if you need a wider angle you have to clip another, There are cheaper lights with more power and wider angle BUT this is a quality light.
Buying more of this. Size is a pleasure.

            Noteworthy compact lighting option

Comments about Manfrotto ML360 Midi-36 LED Panel:

The Manfrotto ML360 Midi-36 LED Panel is a VERY compact, lightweight video light. I've used it on the Panasonic GH2 and it pairs very well with the camera in terms of size and weight.

The ML360 emits a pleasing 5600K colour temperature that, according to my camera's daylight white balance preset, is quite accurate. Unfortunately, the light comes with no CTO filters or diffusion, nor does it have a slot for filters. This is too bad considering the two other versions of this unit (ML360H and ML360HP) have this feature.

Brightness of the ML360 is adjusted with the onboard dimmer (doubling as the power switch), and the dimming produces no flicker or colour change that I can detect. For brightness, the unit is rated at 420 lux at 3.3' (1 m). To put his in perspective, the Litepanels Micro is at rated 280 Lux at 4' (1.2mm).

I found that with the GH2 and my fast LUMIX lenses, I was able to use the ML360 to shoot in total darkness without pushing the ISO past 1250. The light was especially nice when used as fill in situations with ambient daylight. The ML360 is no sun gun, but for its size and power consumption, it certainly has kick.

The beam angle of the ML360 is rated at 30.0 degrees, which is pretty narrow. There's a noticeable "spotlight" effect when the light is used with a wide lens such as the Lumix 14mm. The effect is lessened with the Lumix 25mm lens. For a light this small, I reckon this narrow beam angle is one of the trade-offs, but it makes the ML360 less attractive for event work where shooting wide is a necessity.

As for mounting, the light has a slot on the bottom and the side for the included double-ended flash-shoe (with plastic 1/4" thread). This means the light can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The slots on the ML360 can also be used to stack units together. Not bad. The included flash-shoe is of the static variety and cannot be pivoted or angled. Too bad.

The unit takes AAA batteries and is supposed to last an hour at full brightness with NiMh batteries. Not a big problem considering 12 NiMh rechargeables are very light and take up very little room in one's bag or pockets.

One of the more glaring weaknesses of the ML360 is the battery compartment. The cover is difficult to remove, and the opening for the compartment is shorter than the length of AAA batteries which means they have to be inserted at an angle. This wouldn't be so bad if they snapped into place smoothly, but, in my experience, they often don't. Removing the batteries can also be a challenge. This really hurt the viability of the light for me. I don't want to be in a time-sensitive situation and struggling with replacing batteries.

Ultimately, I think the ML360 is best used as a discrete, on-camera fill light. It could even be used as a key light in dark environments such as a club or wedding reception, but I'd only recommend this with a DSLR/lens system that has a good light sensitivity (and if you can live with the spotlight effect at wider angles). The colour temperature and dimming quality of the ML360 certainly gives the light and edge over some of the cheaper options out there. I only wish I could say the same for the battery compartment design and flash-shoe.

I like this light. I was deciding on the different variations of this light and decided on the ML360 base model as all I really needed was the constant light and not any flash capabilities, etc. This liht is bright enough for my purposes, but for longer distances probably lacks the power. It seems well made and the fact that I can run it on rechargeable NiMH batteries is great. It lasts pretty long on the batteries before I need to recharge. The dim control works as advertised. As others have noted, the battery compartment is pretty hard to open. I would imagine with time and use it will be come easier, but you do have to use more force than expected. Overall a good product. As with most Manfrotto gear, you do pay a bit more, and I am not fully sure if I went back I would shell out this amount again given alot of the lower cost options out there, but I know I have a decent product so I don't regret it.

Was skeptical at first due to the smallness of the video light. Put in 4 AAA batteries and was surprised at how long they lasted. And carrying extra set of batteries instead of extra batteries and charger makes more sense to my brain.

Might consider using white diffuser to soften it.
