I love this lens. It's amazing. The effects are perfect and the vintage effect is fun and great. A couple things you want to know before buying this lens. It's not like a digital lens at all. It's completely like shooting film but instead of getting anything developed, it's on your memory card which is great. I definately would not recommend this lens to beginners. It's a tough lens to get at first and it takes some time to get (it took me like an hour which is about five times as long as any other lens I've used for this first time). You need a ton of natural light. Dont even try to shoot indoors even with the flash you need a super slow shutter and high ISO which creates bad quality photos. If you're looking for great bokeh this isn't the lens to buy. Apeture is a low point for this lens so you aren't going to get great focus. And the focus ring on the lens is a little confusing because its hard to figure out the focus and there's no autofocus of course. But it's a fun lens that's great to have but I stress the word fun. It's probably not what you would choose to shoot a wedding or event. See the photos for more examples of the effect!

I bought this lens for my 5D Mark II and was extremely dissatisfied with the results.

The vignette is incredibly strong, stronger when you have the focus set to closest. You can actually see the shape of their aperture, which is almost flower shaped, which I found to be really distracting.

I think with a camera with a cropped sensor, it might give better results, but for me, it needed way too much light to still give me a terrible picture. I exchanged it for an actual Holga.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

You can't hold this lense to regular standards. If you do all you'll see is that it's flimsy, dark, slow, and almost impossible to focus. But there is something charming about it. Its dreamy softness and its moody vignette make sunny days seem cloudy and smear colors together even at fast shutter speeds. No wonder instagram stole the look. But why drop the $ if you could just add that look in post or do it on your phone? For me, it's the joy of surprise. It's a pretty unpredictable piece of plastic like that. And the small size/light weight add a "why not?" factor. It goes out with my kit on a pretty regular basis.I do wish it was a touch wider though. 60mm is an odd focal length and I'm skeptical about the effacy of the wide angle adapters after trying out the fisheye...

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

I give it 3 stars not because it sucks, but because it is just a cheap toy. I use this for funky stop motion or time lapse animation. It adds a kind of lofi look. I suppose you could do the same thing with photoshop or AE. But what is the fun of owning lenses if you don't experiment? If it isn't clear form the description the distinguishing feature of this lense is the iris. It is a small aperature surrounded by tiny pinholes. So you get a soft hazy effect even when the subject is in focus. I like this look on certain landscapes or cityscapes. What I do not like is the very narrow iris, almost F24 or so. I end up having to really crank the ISO and shutter to get useful shots. also the focus is very cheap feeling, but it is a very cheap lense! This is pretty much a daytime or Flash only lense. I do wish they had more of these though! It woudl be nice to have different sizes to play with. And it weighs almost nothing compared to my Canons.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

This is a great lens if you know what you're getting yourself into. This all-plastic lens is very hungry for light. The aperture is static at about f22, maybe higher. It creates a fun Holga-esque look. I've found that modifying the lens is a lot of fun. You can remove the aperture ring and vignette thingy without too much trouble, then customize it with your own tape or gel or whatever to produce a funky look.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

This product is what you think: a crapo plastic lens for your multi thousand dollar DSLR. :-) It is fun to use and indeed gets you this plastic, unsharp, less contrasty look. For me it doesn't give the cross processed colors we get from Instagram, Snapseed etc. so don't expect colors that aren't in your scene, but you do get some light leak, soft effect etc. It is fun and the price isn't too bad. But keep in mind there are REAL lenses you can get for [$] (think 50/1.8) and you can process your SHARP image to get the Holga look, the opposite isn't true, so you have to want to leave quality out the door when shooting this lens, and solely go after the "look". For me it is indeed fun, however after I use this lens I shoot some real glass to "clean my eyes".

But if you're looking for a sharp or fast lens, you'll be disappointed. It's a fun lens to play with. You need a ton of natural light, so shooting indoors is totally off the table. The lens produces soft, dream-like images. All sorts of Holga weirdness, now in digital form. Plus, the price is right.

I got this product to achieve some of the quirkiness of a Holga camera with my dSLR. I really like how some of the photos turn out, but I've found that I'm not using it quite as much as I thought I would. For the price, though, you can't beat it.

This is a fun little lens if you want something to play around and be creative with. It produces slightly de-focused images a la Fisher Price. Due to the very small apeture on this lens, you'll need a lot of light, or very long exposure times similar to a pinhole camera. Also, the way to manually focus this lens can be a little tricky. Make sure you read the manual - it's very short.

This lens is really soft in bright light. It produces holga-esque images and is definitely worth it if you want to achieve that effect. I used this lens on my T3i (1.6 crop factor) so I can't speak to what it produces on a full frame.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

If you've shot with a Holga film camera before, you know it's limitations, and that's kinda what has made it famous. I used the lens on a 5D mkII, and the full frame sensor caused a lot of vignetting; the image was practically a circle. This isn't so much a problem on a 7D, 60D, etc. Shooting video is easily the most fun you'll have with the lens. You'll get plenty of soft images and flares. The focus ring doesn't do much; the images you'll get with the lens are inherently going to be soft. It also needs a lot of light with it's fixed aperture; indoor or low-light shooting is going to cause you some problems.

For approx. 30 bucks, it's a fun buy and worth the shots/video you'll get with it. It weighs nothing and is super small, so it'll find it's place in your camera bag easily.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

I was thinking it'd be a classic f8 lens, but is more like a f22. It's easy to remove the aperture place and 'light leak' plate, but it negates the effect. I ended up taking a razor blade to widen the aperture to a close f16.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

Who would have thought that my years of the love of photography would take in the direction of desiring a plastic lens.

How charming it is that each lens seems to have its own personality, area of greater sharpness, and unique vignetting. The soft focus causes me to have to choose a definite subject and be more aware of a strong composition. The dreamy texture of the images lends a certain mood that is really the right tool for the job sometimes. Sometimes it's just fun to experiment with being limited. That's when your true genius emerges.

This lens really is a light hog, so you'll probably use it more outdoors in daytime, or maybe grab your tripod for some creative sessions with it.

Regardless, this lens is a blast. I think it's got plenty of bang for the buck.

Great fun lens. Has a great look and feel to it very different from high end lenses. has to be used outside mostly or with lots of lights. Great bang for your buck. Some complain its not great but what do you expect from a cheap lens. I use it for video and for portraiture and think its an excellent addition to my camera bag.

This little lens is great for just-for-fun photos. It is very similar to the Holga photos I have achieved in the past. (Just miss being able to do double exposures with the film Holga.) The only thing I don't like about it is that the ISO needs to be set pretty high in order for decent hand-held images.

Comments about Holga Lens for Canon DSLR Camera:

I knew what I was ordering - a simple Canon lens that would replicate the effect of using a vintage toy camera. And I know the lens is tough, because it was sent in this minimal stiff-card-stock stiff envelope that offered the lens no protection whatsoever. When I got the package, the lens box had been totally squished; the only thing keeping the package from going entirely flat was the lens itself. We put it on a camera, and it was fine - so far. So this is one tough little product.
