      When I bought my D7000 I ordered the accessory kit from B&H and this was included. When I received the D7000, I noticed that it came with an LCD screen protector. However, it is made of plastic and is not meant to be left on while the camera is being used. Vello did a great job with this screen protector! It looks great on the back of my D7000. This is what Nikon should have made, instead of the cheap plasic one included. I really like the way it protects both the LCD screen and my viewfinder and that it can be left on during shooting.

      I just bought this along with my new D7000 and when I initially put it on the camera, it was amazing how it looked and fit. I saw a review where the person said it limited your view through the viewfinder but I double checked that and had no problem.

      I chose this snap-on style over the press-on version because I just hadn't read any reviews where they said the press-on cover was easy to remove. I think we'd all freak out if the adhesive didn't come off clean and our LCD glass had permanent sticky crud on it. I did read that using a blow dryer while pulling off the Vello cover would make it easier to remove but still, I couldn't find anywhere where somebody had successfully removed one without leaving adhesive behind.

      Here is where the snap-on screen protector became a problem and why I gave it 3 stars. I have fairly thin fingers for a guy so I can get to all the buttons and switches on the camera. But now that this cover is on, it sticks out just far enough that I can't really get access to the left side of the d-pad. As I was setting up my camera, I found it annoying that I had to dig my thumb into the left corner of the pad where it met the cover.

      See, the way this cover fits is that it sits up higher than the LCD screen so it creates an uneven edge between it and the pad. Now it doesn't hang over the pad but since you typically place half your thumb on any given edge, the other half ends up on top of the raised cover so you can't get an even press on the left side of the pad. Now you have to apply more pressure to get it to respond.

      What I can tell from the B&H picture of the press-on version is that it doesn't add a lot of extra height (like the stock Nikon plastic cover) so although your thumb will touch the cover, it'll still be an even pressure to the pad.

      Where it got really annoying is when I realized that in manual focus mode, the d-pad is used to move around to single focus points. Having to push harder every time I wanted to move left would get really annoying, really fast.

      So, I'm returning the snap-on model and getting the self-stick version in hopes down the road, I can easily remove the cover and leftover adhesive. I'll take the risk as anything is better than the plastic cover Nikon provides with the camera. I'm trusting that Vello wouldn't make a product that they knew would damage expensive cameras.

          Comments about Vello Snap-On LCD Screen Protector for Nikon D7000:

          From reading many reviews, preferred this "snap-on" to the sticky type protectors. Problem is the protector does NOT snap-on. Snap-on is the same as the original Nikon plastic protector, snaps into place top and bottom. The Vello screen protector "slips-on". Actually you remove the original rubber eye piece and then slide the Vello unit down over the eye piece holder. The eye piece is what holds the whole thing in place. And it does move slightly side to side. I tried to pull the piece away from the body, and it seemed to stay in place. Shame on the manufacturer for not stating that the unit slips down over the eye piece. Calling it a "snap-on is very misleading. The packaging is pretty fancy. Rather, the manufacturer should have put their engineers to work and complete the job, by snapping it top and bottom.

            Comments about Vello Snap-On LCD Screen Protector for Nikon D7000:

            I've bought the screen protector at the store, but had to return it the next day because of the following points:
            - it makes it hard to press the left button of the cursor;
            - when you look through the viewfinder there is a reflection on the lower part (where the icons are). Depending on the light, you can see a reversed image of what you shoot in that lower part - it's very annoying!;
            - still in the viewfinder, there is less visibility in the four corners;
            - and again in the viewfinder: I found (but I'm not sure), that what you see is less bright.
            Too bad that there isn't a model without the viewfinder… and even though, it would have to be better made.

            this product has alot of pros that you can find in the other reviews. I liked it so much that when the first one came off during a shoot and got lost I bought a second one. It has come off several times while out and usually I notice it. The problem is that it also takes the I peice with it so now that I have lost mine a second time i will buy something diffrent.

                      Vello products are great. I have the snap-on screen saver for my D800 and love it. I didn't pay close enough attention to see that the D7000 snaps onto the eyepiece and has an additional eyepiece. The problem is that it means your eye is a few cm further from the viewfinder and some of the frame is blocked by the sides. I returned it and got the stick-on glass protector from Vello which I know I like.

                        I absolutely love this new (to me) screen protector. Having used the plastic versions on both my D-90 and now my D-7000, I had been very disappointed with how quickly they scratched and made viewing images on my camera more challenging. I love the crystal clear views I am now getting when reviewing footage or photos as I take them in LV or in going back over my photos before downloading them.

                            I keep this on my camera all the time. It's crystal clear and makes viewing my piciures much more enjoyable than trying to view them through the plastic protector that comes with the camera (Nikon D7000). It dosen't scratch as easily as plastic and is clearer to see through. Very easy to install. Can't think of anything I do't like about it.

                                Comments about Vello Snap-On LCD Screen Protector for Nikon D7000:

                                When I bought my D7000 I ordered the accessory kit from B&H and this was included. When I received the D7000, I noticed that it came with an LCD screen protector. However, it is made of plastic and is not meant to be left on while the camera is being used. Vello did a great job with this screen protector! It looks great on the back of my D7000. This is what Nikon should have made, instead of the cheap plasic one included. I really like the way it protects both the LCD screen and my viewfinder and that it can be left on during shooting.

                                Good replacement for OEM.

                                      Attached a Waist-Level Viewfinder to the OEM LCD Screen Protector. Easier to remove the entire Screen Protector with W.L. Viewfinder attached and pop-on a fresh screen protector to use camera's eye-level viewfinder. Fits well. Seems a little pricey, but no negative quality or function comments.

                                          Really like that it protects viewfinder and both screens; glass not plastic, will have to see how well it holds up, but feel it is much better than Nikon screen cover.
