The 4GB Memory Stick PRO-Duo MARK2 from Sony is a recordable media card featuring MagicGate copyright protection technology. This provides authentication and content encryption and decryption, to prevent unauthorized copying and conform to Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) standards. The card is compatible with cameras and other electronic devices equipped with MS PRO-Duo slots, and can be used in MS PRO slots via the optional MSACM2 adapter.

- To conform to SDMI copyright protection standards, Sony uses MagicGate technology, which provides two main functions: authentication to confirm that both Memory Stick and device using it support copyright protection, and content encryption and decryption by the device during recording or playback. If authentication is not established mutually, data exchange operations are made impossible, preventing unauthorized content copying

I was worried that there would be compatibility issues, as the documentation states that it needs memory stick pro hg duo. But it works great, absolutely no errors in the way its working, and does everything you need a memory card to do. Fast transfer speed, etc. All smiles.

When I received the memory stick I was concerned that it might not fit my camera because it was narrower than my other one and the slot in the camera. It also had the copper connections on the other side of the stick and the notch was on the other side too. Because it was listed as compatible with my camera, I opened the package and installed it in my camera. Because of the placement of the notch, I had to insert it with the copper connections on the opposite side. When I turned on the camera and took some photos and reviewed them, it was working fine.

I haven't used my Sony DSC F828 camera for a long time which uses the old Memory Stick Pro 256mb. I was looking for the same type of media but with more storage space. I looked around the web for any replacement and this media. This will not work without using using a Memory Stick Duo Adaptor MSAC-M2 that has the shape of your old memory stick. Opposite the contact end of the card is where insert this 4GB media inside the hollow part of the adapter and push the adaptor into the camera media slot together with this 4GB media card. You get 999 images in 8 mega pixel format or 15 minutes of video recording. Very good when you need video recording capabilities in a venue that doesn't allow video cameras just like Formula One in Austin Texas last weekend. Although video capable cameras were allowed as long as it wasn't reproduced in a professional quality (cell phone video quality only).

Worked like a charm in my SONY PCM-D50 audio recorder. Not fully tested yet, just a few recordings. But I've used one of these memory sticks in the same recorder before and it was very reliable.

You get 15 minutes of video on one of these things, so next time I will order a bigger one. I was wondering the answer to that question, and ordered one of these things to find out. I don't know how good the quality is compared to tape yet, but 63 minutes of "professional video tape" is [$], so I will continue to buy tape, 'cause I like tape, and tape is closer to analogue than disc. In my mind, anyways.

Popped this into my Sony DSC-HX1 and works like a charm, this is a real memory stick not the fakes like other places are selling.
