The view is astounding and the handling is superb - glassing through the EL 12x50 SwaroVision Binocular from Swarovski brings the cutting edge of optical performance to a new level. While the original EL series set the benchmark for clarity, color accuracy, and handling comfort, the EL SwaroVision binoculars raise the performance bar even higher.

The optical system has been enhanced with all of Swarovski's HD optics with their legendary performance-enhancing multilayer lens coatings. The optical path is enhanced even further with the addition of field flattener lenses. These field flatteners ensure an edge-to-edge sharpness and clarity that's free of distortion and other distractions.

Keeping pace with the optical train, the EL SV's construction also benefits from some advanced fine-tuning. The EL's open-bridge design provides viewers with long-term viewing comfort, enhanced stability, and ease of handling. The housing is covered with a rubberized finish that offers a secure tactile grip and a bit of shock resistance. Stellar all-climate performance is ensured via nitrogen purging. The rugged magnesium housing is sealed and purged to create a watertight and fogproof internal system - one that's impervious to dynamic climates and difficult conditions.

A wide angle field of view and truly noteworthy eye relief contribute to this fine sporting optic's viewing performance. Even when wearing glasses, the view remains unobstructed, free from vignetting, and lush with crisp detail.

Comments about Swarovski EL 12x50 SwaroVision Binocular:

I am very pleased in My experiences with the 10 by 50 ELs I ordered from Our Friends at B and H. Please read that review at B and H under the 10 by 50 EL heading. Despite all the warnings about being able not being able to handhold even the 10 by 50 ELs, I went ahead and got the 10 by 50 ELs anyway. I found those 10s to be very stable and knew I would probably always wonder if I just might find the same to be true about the 12s. I decided to give those a try. I'm so pleased that I have done that. If the weight of the 50mm objectives is not a problem for You, (the EL10s and EL12s weigh in at the same), nor a little smaller field of view, I can highly recommend that You try these EL 12s. The exit pupil in the EL12s is supposed to be a bit less than the 10s; but, truly, I have not noticed any difference between the two. I believe You will discover as I have that the increased resolution is well worth the small sacrifices of using the larger power. Initially I did notice a very slight "wiggle" which I quickly got used to. I have improved My technique of hand holding them and the "wiggling" has just about disappeared entirely. You'll be so pleased with the added resolution these 12s give over the 10s that You'll soon forget all about the possible "wiggle" issue. I, Myself, wanted all the extra resolution possible for not only birding and hunting; but, also for observing the night sky. The results have been far beyond My expectations. The images are just spectacular! You won't believe Your eyes. All the great things I mentioned before about the EL10s also hold true with these EL12s as the optics and great engineering from Swarovski are the same. I am really enjoying the increased resolution these 12ELs give. I have noticed a slight decrease in the close focus distance; but, that is not noticeable enough to matter to Me personally. The close focus view is still like that of a fine microscope. The additional power more than makes up for a foot or two less close focus distance and I found that decrease to be a small issue barely worth the mentioning. For night sky viewing I use a platform anyway no matter what power I'm using. Viewing in dim light is wonderful as is the view with the 10s. My thought is, I may just as well have all the power available and enjoy that extra resolution. If I were to be asked by Fiends of mine, about My recommendation of "which" power to get I would say "Just get the 12s and save all the time and trouble of wondering about them. You won't be sorry." I believe the level of optical technology, materials and physical constraints of assembly may well be at it's peak with These large Swarovision 50mm objective binoculars. I will have and enjoy these 12 by 50EL Swarovision binoculars for many years.

Comments about Swarovski EL 12x50 SwaroVision Binocular:

Go to any store and compare these Swarovski EL binoculars to the other top brands (Leica, Zeiss, etc.). The others won't even be a close second to Swarovski's clarity and brightness. That said, while the binoculars are incredible Swarovski's accessories (case, lenses covers, etc.) come no where close to matching their high end optics. Buy these binoculars and write Swarovski telling them to get off the dime with their accessories.
