I have this filter, and it's OK on my 100/2.8 macro. It's not perfect, but I'll take the small IQ hit if I'm shooting outdoors and worried about bumping the front element against something. But... I also tried this on my 70-300L. It completely ruins the IQ on this lens, most obviously at 300mm. The results with it on vs off are night and day, it reduced the IQ of my $ lens to that of a $ 75-300 kit quality lens, no exaggeration. There is something going on with how light bounces between the filter and coated front element that just generates crazy amounts of ghosting. If you're thinking about buying a filter for this lens, just be sure to try it out right away and A/B test against the bare lens, and be prepared to return it. The 70-300L has a nice big hood, so a filter is not as necessary to protect it (100mm macro has a big hood too, but you often need to remove it to shoot in the macro range).Unfortunately, most of my other lenses are 77mm, otherwise it'd be able to see if this problem is unique to the 70-300L, or common to other lenses with the fluorite coating.

Comments about Canon 67mm UV Protector Filter:

Canon filters have had a bad reputation in the past for being cheap and poor quality, but the new ones are really improved. You can really see the difference when compared to the older "made in the USA" Canon filters and the new ones that are made in Japan. The new filters have the Canon SSC coatings and are much less prone to flare.

Comments about Canon 67mm UV Protector Filter:

This filter is quite neutral on my canon EF 70-200 f\4 L.
I use it primarily to protect the front lens and it does its job perfectly.

Optics wise, I have not noticed anything negative about this filter. however, it is difficult to screw it onto the lens front - there seems a lot of friction between the two. Not sure if the threads are not smooth or filter/lens is not perfectly circular...

Use on my L series Canon lens for protection in many damp and/or dusty situations and want to protect it. Am on my second or third filter but would rather replace the filter than scratch the lens. The filter is much higher quality than most other brands and worth the extra money, why use a cheap filter on a suburb lens and risk degrading the image.

Comments about Canon 67mm UV Protector Filter:

Reasonable price for the product that will protect your lens from dust/dirt/smears, you name it. Buy this for any lens you have in this size. If you don't...you risk a serious lesson in lens protection.
