Budget-conscious and versatile, the Compact AC/DC Charger for NP-FW50 Battery from Pearstone is a prudent choice, providing you with 3 ways to charge out of the gate, and the ability to charge your USB devices as well! The fold-out AC plug provides normal in-wall charging for the US, and allows for easy travel and storage. The included cigarette lighter DC adapter provides in-vehicle charging, while the Euro plug adapter can be used for European wall sockets. Along with charging the Pearstone NP-FW50, the Compact Charger is also compatible with the Sony NP-FW50 battery.
As mentioned above, the Compact Charger goes beyond the call of duty, charging your USB devices as well. Just connect your device via its USB charging cable, and connect the Compact Charger to the wall or cigarette outlet in your vehicle. Additionally, the Compact Charger can also be used with the optional ADC-AC AC Adapter from Pearstone.
With its easily interchangeable plate, the charger can also be used for other battery models that are not listed above - via the separate purchase of an additional battery plate.

After spending a month away from home w/o my camera charger my battery finally died. I went to B&H Manhattan store and asked for a charger replacement, they offered me a price for an original Sony charger & a lower price for the generic brand. I chose the generic and headed out the door. To my delight I later discovered that this charger has a USB cord which allows me to also charge it in my cigarette lighter in my car! Works great too, except a little bulky and the battery slides in a little precariously, but overall great for the money.

I realized that my NEX5R Sony camera used batteries pretty fast so I bought three just before heading to China on a reporting trip. I purchased the NP-FW50 battery charger at the same time so I could keep all the batteries ready to go.
In the course of the trip, the charger came apart. It was glued together and separated. I pushed it back together and it worked. I took a piece of gaffers tape and taped three sides, leaving room to fit the battery on the charger. It works!

For the price, it is a great product. Comes with a Euro and car adapter, which is handy to have, but it also has a USB slot so you can use it to charge your camera battery along with your tablet/mp3 player/other camera at the same time. This aspect of it is rather nice for traveling as I no longer have to carry 2 chargers with me (and take up 2 outlets).
My only complaint is that, as others have stated, putting the battery in can be a bit challenging until you get used to it.

This is a good third party alternative to the more expensive Sony AC charger. You can charge from a wall outlet or a 12-volt outlet in a car. It also has a USB outlet, so you can charge a Sony NEX battery in the charger itself and use the USB cable that comes with the camera to charge a battery that's still in the camera. (You could also charge any other device that uses a USB charging cable.) The charger is light weight and reasonably well made.

This is my new battery charger as I seem to have mislaid (or lost) the one that came with the camera.
I am not giving it 5 stars as the way one puts the battery into the charger is slightly awkward.
The other charger, the one I can't find, was not available at the time but it was more expensive too. I needed this one asap as I was going out of town. If I find the other one I will be able to charge both my batteries at the same time.
It works and gets the job done. Yes I do recommend to buy it.

I have multiple batteries for my camera and needed another charger to make charging them all quicker. This charger is faster than the original Sony charger at a fraction of the cost! It also has the capability to be used as a car charger, which is great and something I didn't have before. The Sony original charger can't do that! Awesome!!

This charger is quite good. I had originally bought one from a bidding site and I'm actually thankful that I lost it because visiting the B&H store was really fun. This charger is clearly better quality than one you could get on a bidding site. I highly recommend the customer service at B&H and this particular charger.
