Comments about Nisha Flash Bracket (Z-Type):

This unit is not super sturdy, but I recently got a mic for my DSLR, which mounts to the hotshoe on top of the camera, I quickly realized I lost my spot for my flash. Since the mic is lightweight, I mounted it on the bracket, which also helps isolate noise from the camera. Problem resolved.

Comments about Nisha Flash Bracket (Z-Type):

Don't misread the description as I did - YES, the flash mount is tripod mountable, but, NO, the bracket itself is not.

Also, the perspective of the product picture is somewhat misleading. All angles are 90 degrees. The 'Z' is debatable.

If I were to do this again, I'd spend just a bit more money and look for the bracket to attach to a tripod as well.

My thinking in buying this (I bought a flash off-shoe cord at the same time), with the shoe cord, if one hand has the camera, and the other the flash ... you have no hand free. So park the flash on the bracket mount. Given the low stretch and high tension of the cord, it would be all too easy for something to fall, be it carrying things around, or putting down on a table for the moment.

By extension, when tripod mounted, park the flash on the bracket when you have to walk away for a moment.

Not possible, the bracket itself won't mount on the tripod.

Aside from this, all the advantages of a bracket are present. e.g. Further off portrait direct line of sight, for red eye. But I'd still get a different one if I had to buy again - I just wish I had read the description a bit more accurately. Had I done so, I would not have bought this unit.

I agree with everything in the prior review, which I think quite well written.

I just wish I had trusted it more than the description - it and the description appear to contradict each other, and I trusted the description. I did not pick up on the description talking about the flash mount, and the review talking about the bracket itself.

Comments about Nisha Flash Bracket (Z-Type):

Upon receipt, I immediately used this item 3 times in a week while photographing indoor events that required fill flash. Note that you need a flash extension cord to connect the hot shoe of the camera to your flash - it is not included with this bracket and there are no electrical contacts built in.

The bracket allows the flash to be offset to the left or the right of the camera body, and it's easy to flip it from side to side. This completely eliminates red-eye, and gives facial close-ups just a touch of sidelight since the flash is offset a bit.

The bracket is metal with a hard plastic hand grip that seems to be hot glued on, and the bracket flexes A LOT, especially when the flash and bracket are fully extended away from the camera body. The construction is a bit weak, and the flexing can be unnerving at first. The bracket is not set up to accept a tripod mount below it - there's no mounting hole, so this can only be used hand-held.

I bought it because I needed a cheap method to move the flash off the shoe for professional shoots, which it does, and it's simple to use. But...when I have more $ to spend I will invest in a much tougher, higher-quality model that uses thicker metal that doesn't flex, has a better grip, and the ability to attach a tripod mount underneath.
