Thanks to Sony's proprietary hotshoe, I had to buy this little gem. It's well built, but doesn't like plastic mounts. Not sure if this is a universal issue with hot shoes, but when I attach my shotgun mic that has a plastic shoe, its difficult to squeeze into the metal on the hot shoe. Over all I'm glad this is available and happy with my purchase.

Sony products are great but can be a little exclusive and pricey, the adapter wired perfectly the first time I tried it

This adapter works as it should. Enables my Sony camera to use either a sync cord to the PC socket or a PocketWizard to fire studio strobes. I am now shooting wirelessly and makes life much easier.

I use this product on my sony alpha 390 camera. I think that is a great option for me because using this product I can get better quality and more stability at the moment of the photo shoot. This is a great product for you as an photographer. I recommended to you!

Works as advertised. light weight -
Gives us the ability to use external flash - I have tried both Nikon and Canon and Bower flash in manual mode and they all worked fine.
So this does not give you TTL - you need to get a Sony compatible flash for that.
But with some practise most of us don't use TTL anyway - this adds a little bith of height with the none Sony flashes but not much to worry about - maybe later they will make a similar unit that is a bit thinner -
but a great price and with advertised functionality it is a must have for us with NEX body's - that is to say those that do have other flashes and do not need TTL -

It is a good alternative to the Sony hot shoe adapter for a fraction of the cost. Haven't had any problems with it.

Got this adapter to work with my Sony A350 & A55 to use with a studio set up. For the price of the product and the recommendation from the B&H rep I couldn't turn it down. Been using it for the past few weeks and have had nothing but success. It is easy to take on and off the camera so you can easliy switch flashes.

The only issue I have had is that it makes it a bit hard to get a good solid connection with my eyes and the eye piece. But it is easy to work around.

I would highly recommend to other Sony users.

Bought this for my Alpha 65 and it works great with my manual flash units. I like the extra pc connection for use with studio flash.

I don't know why Sony has to make things difficult. This fixes the problem. the hot shoe works and this one doesn't need batteries like the Sony adapter which is much more expensive.

This hot shoe adapter does just what I hoped it would do and that is allow me to use my old (mid 1980's) Contax TLA 30 flash with my brand new Sony Nex 7. Seems to work just fine after taking some test shots. I plan on using the setup photographing grandkids indoor school performances. Was always pleased with the results shooting film with my Contax and I look forward to seeing how it does shooting digital with my Nex 7.

Got this to convert Sony Hot Shoe to a Standard hot shoe. I am using it on my Sony a65 with a Canon flash and so far it works just fine.

What I really wanted was to adapt the Sony hot shoe to take my Rode Microphone - and this adapter does this with no problems.

The mic fitting goes directly into the Flash fitting.

AND I have the flash hot shoe for when I can afford the "not Sony" flash unit.

The price is acceptable and I believe that I got good value.

if you want to use any standard shoe mt flash, this is what you need. This company makes a finely tooled product, would buy anything they make!!

Unless you go for the Sony expensive branded adapter, this is your next best thing. I've already tried 2 other adapters and they all snapped off after a few mounts and dismounts from my NEX-7. This is the only durable one that's lasted after a month use.

I've used it on my NEX-7 with a Pocketwizard as well as a ETTL Canon cord and they both work as they should (minus the TTL portion, all manual flash of course). There is that one slight problem with such a snug fit on to the NEX-7 that if not mounted all the way on, it does not get a connection to fire the flash off. A simple dismount and remount will solve that. No biggie.

Other than that, it works great and as expected. Off camera flash on a NEX-7 .. what more can you ask for?

I use it to be able to use my Nikon flash on my Sony NEX-7 camera. The thing that is good about it is that you can use any other non Sony flash. It sometimes doesn't make good electrical contact with the camera and has to be released and installed again on the flash shoe by pushing hard.
