Whether you are shooting in the studio or outdoors, the Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch for Select Canon, Pentax, Contax, Samsung & Sigma provides photographers with a simple way to control exposures and an easy-to use-tool to create more "keepers". The device is larger and more comfortable to use than many other remote devices, with a thick, sturdy cord.
The unit provides functionality such as: autofocusing, continuous shooting or single image capture and long time exposures. Since you can trigger exposures without touching the camera you will capture clear, blur-free images. The unit requires no batteries - it draws its power from the camera.
The Wired Remote Switch is a huge asset to keep in your studio or gear bag. This particular wired switch uses a cable that's 2.8' (86 cm) long, and is compatible with cameras that have a sub-mini connection, i.e. Canon EOS Digital Rebel series, 60D, PowerShot G1 X & G12, Contax N and 645, Hasselblad H series, Pentax K and DS and Samsung GX series DSLRs.

All the functionality of the OEM product at a fraction of the price. However, the micro-jack doesn't fit in the camera very securely and needs fiddling with to make good contact.

I use it with the Canon T2i with camera on tripod.
Many people say they would like the cord to be longer. I can not find a longer extension at B@H for the Canon Rebel. There are cords out there 6 feet and 12 feet For Canon you will need 2.5mm Male to 2.5mm Female. Vello is a great product.

I use this for astrophotography and it has served me well. It minimizes camera shake incredibly and is extremely easy to use. The only problem is the cord is a tad bit short but that is okay because you wouldn't really be using this to go too far away from the camera either way. To go far away you should probably get a wireless shutter release.

I'm using this for doing head shots and other studio work, and it's great for (obviously) getting still shots without the shake.
It works great, it feels great, very very easy to use, and I recommend it, even if you have a wireless remote (since it doesn't require battery).
Only potential problem is that the cable isn't too long, but for the stuff I'm doing, it's fine.

Easy to use--pop it into the micro jack and you're ready to shoot. At such an affordable price there's really no reason NOT to have a remote shutter release. I mostly use it for night photography and it has worked well for my needs.

When I got this I was told by other photographers the price is to good to be true this most likely will break easy. Pretty tough for a shutter cable.
I shot some amazing photos with both my Canon DSLR and my Pentax DSLR with this shutter release cable. From Nature photography to painting with light.
It has a locking slide to keep the shutter button pushed shut so you can do a closed F stop and long exposure with your camera to paint with light and actually move around subjects.
The three foot wire I feel could be a little more thicker or heavy duty but as of now I have no complaints. I love this shutter release cable.

This is a very inexpensive tethered trigger that has worked correctly for several shoots. It plugs into the mini-phono port in the camera body and triggers the shutter without you having to touch the camera. It costs way less than triggers sold by Canon and Hasselblad for the same function.
