Whether you are shooting in the studio or outdoors, the Vello RS-S1II Wired Remote Switch for Sony Alpha Series Connection provides photographers with a simple way to control exposures and an easy-to-use tool to create more "keepers". The device is larger and more comfortable to use than many other remote devices, with a thick, sturdy cord.
The unit provides functionality such as: autofocus, continuous shooting or single image capture and long time exposures. Since you can trigger exposures without touching the camera you will capture clear, blur-free images. The unit requires no batteries - it draws its power from the camera.
The Wired Remote Switch is a huge asset to keep in your studio or gear bag. This particular wired switch uses a cable that's 2.8' (86 cm) long, and is compatible with Sony Alpha series cameras and select Minolta cameras.

Comments about Vello RS-S1II Wired Remote Switch for Sony Alpha Series Connection:
Zero complaints on this one, very happy with it.
This is your barebones, no-nonsense wired remote shutter release.
The button has plenty of travel for shutter half-presses, and locks in place for bulb.
It's light and well sized for most hand sizes.
Excellent piece of kit, so long as it's all you need.

Being new to the Sony Alpha 65a I wanted a simple remote. Right now I have no need for extra fancy, programmable units. This remote works great!

Comments about Vello RS-S1II Wired Remote Switch for Sony Alpha Series Connection:
I Originally bought this cable release a couple years ago and proceeded to stuff it into one of the smaller pockets my camera bag (a canvas attaché affair). I've tried wireless remotes (IR actually) and don't particularly care for them as they may only work when pointed at the perfect angle and the battery can die which makes you wonder why you went wireless in the first place. A physically connected cable release costs less too.
The RS-S1 that I purchased a couple years ago did the trick for me - physically connected, two stage trigger with locking mechanism for BULB exposures should you need it. The only gripe was the "neck" area where the cable connects to the main body. Unfortunately the rubberized neck area wore down with the wear and tear of taking it out of and shoving it back into the tight pocket of my camera bag until the actual wires were exposed. I meant to wrap some electrical tape around the exposed wires of the neck area but one of the wires broke before I got around to it (procrastination).
With few options for wired remotes that fit the Sony Alpha-35, I purchased another RS-S1 without realizing Vello tacked "II" onto the end of the model designation (now it's the RS-S1 II). The "II" I'm happy to report not only has beefier cabling, the "neck" area where the cabling enters the main body is significantly more robust than with the original model. I was planning on heat-shrink-tubing the neck connection area but the "II" takes care of the issue. The reinforced plastic/rubber neck is more than up to what I can throw at it. I don't know if people complained about the previous iteration but Vello seems to have read my thoughts with the "II". Way to go!

Comments about Vello RS-S1II Wired Remote Switch for Sony Alpha Series Connection:
Product is well made and works exactly as described. Not programmable like more expensive models but exactly the same as the much more expensive Sony branded product. An invaluable tool for photography with a tripod, and particularly good for night photography where a very long shutter/multiple shorter exposures is required and eliminates any camera shake caused by pressing the shutter.
