I'm using 4 of these drives in a Desktop RAID configuration (ZFS). They work very well, but required a bit of work to setup in my non-windows environment. The large cache has been great for high read speeds. If you are planning something for a large dataset, these drives are great but will take some planning on your part to use properly.
Pros:
* Cool, Quiet, and Energy efficient. Supports SMART.
Cons:
* Advanced Format Drives (4K sectors) may require a bit of effort depending on your OS.
* Load Cycle Count advanced rapidly until adjusting the idle-time.
Gotchas:
* wdidle, a DOS based utility may be required to adjust the auto-park timeout to something reasonable to keep the Load Cycle Count low.
* Drive reports as 512byte sectors rather than 4096. Things must align on a 4096byte boundary for optimum performance. Lots of manual partitioning math to ensure 'alignment'.

I have windows 7 64 bit but cannot use 3gb harddrive. I tried multiple outlets for support including Western Digital and Dell but my system only sees 750 GB of the 3TB I should see. Everywhere I have looked for a solution and nothing. Western Digital said to call Dell and Dell said to call Western Digital. B&H service was great but Western Digital service was subpar. Thats the only reason for the low rating. I know I'm not doing something right but they didn't help me out at all.

I use it with my Mac Pro. Filled the last available bay in my Mac tower. I keep hearing not very loud but noticeable enough airplane alike noise from it as it start spinning. I use it for my Time Machine so i'm not worry about it mach since i have WD warranty. Hopefully it will not die on me right after warranty period. I hope it helps.

Only had for two weeks, but they seem to work fine. I'm using the SH Raid system with Adobe LR. Just a tad slower that accessing a local drive directly, but not bad. Nice to have all my photos (100K) in one place and on a Raid system.

-Checked disks using WD Diag to look for bad blocks, none were found on either of the 2 disks (process took over 3 hrs, each)
-Installed on Server 2012 Essentials with Storage Spaces, working fine so far
-Wish there was such a thing as a fast energy efficient hard drive, but this will do.

I purchased this drive as a backup drive, but am very impressed with its transfer speed. The first drive I purchased needed to be returned, due to a loud continous buzz (sounded like an alarm). B&H made the return process very easy, and shipped another out very quickly. This drive is very new, but I've had other models of WD drives and have had very good performance and reliability.

used as back up in an external dock. did NOT work in my older BlacX thermaltake. DID work in the Voyager newer technologies drive dock. will most likely work in Newer BlacX docks as my dock was old.
(by not working, i mean it read 800mb instead of 3TB which is a known limitation of some external drive docks)
To rehash if you dont know what i mean, I use internal drives like this as a system and image back up. I make 3 back ups and keep them in 3 different locations. I make the backups using a dock that looks much like a toaster, only smaller and not shiny. the drive goes into the top, reads on the desktop, and then i download, pop out the drive, put it into a plastic case, and store it.

I'm old enough to say, "In my day, we had 720k floppy drives," so 3TB at this price is pretty amazing. That said, I bought 8 drives, and one failed within a week. (It was replaced free-of-charge, of course, without any hassle.) It makes me a little cautious about the longevity of the drive, but but the price is right—and since I'm using them in a RAID 5 array, I'm not particularly worried about data loss.
