The 8-Port Power-Saving Gigabit Ethernet Switch from Asus is a networking tool that's an affordable and efficient solution for your home or small office network. This switch features eight speedy Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting computers or other Ethernet-enabled devices on your LAN network. Of these ports, one, the "VIP" port, allows you to prioritize more important or latency-sensitive traffic for applications like VoIP or gaming. The switch also features a power-saving feature whereby a specific port will go into standby mode if a computer connected to that port is turned off. Because the switch is also fanless, it operates quietly in the background. If you need a Gigabit switch at a bargain of a price for your home or especially your small office network, check out this one from Asus.

I use this switch as the primary switch in my home network. Pluged in the Ethernet cables, pluged in the power supply, and everything worked perfectly immediately. Fast, reliable data exchanges. No muss, no fuss, no bother. Can't beat it for the price.

I replaced three old Linksys switches with three Asus and noticed internal network performance improvements almost immediatedly. They are definitely plug and play, work as advertised, and are at a very nice price point.

Comments about ASUS 8-Port Power-Saving Gigabit Ethernet Switch:
Easy to set up. We have not had a single lost signal on our network. We do not notice any slow down even when all the work stations are active at the same time. Our last router and switch slowed to a crawl when everybody was transfering files or sharing documents. We matched it with an Asus Dual Band Wirless-N Gigabit Router for a total of 6 workstations wired and 4 wireless, with 2 additional occasional wireless users.[...]
