Comments about Trendnet 450Mbps Dual Band Wireless N USB Adapter:

This is the best network adapter I've ever owned, USB or otherwise. Let me just start by saying that the install cd actually gives you a choice to only install the driver without any connection utility, which is really great. After that, it connected to my network immediately, with more bars and speed than any other method I've tried. I've yet to be disconnected even once and have been playing online games entirely lag free. The adapter itself is also very nice looking and sturdy. The only problem I have at all with this adapter is that the USB cable isn't quite as long as I'd hoped. My old adapter had a really long cable and had to be placed up high, thankfully with this one I have an even better signal and it's just sitting right on top of my PC. Very highly recommended.

Comments about Trendnet 450Mbps Dual Band Wireless N USB Adapter:

This product works as advertised. I added this adapter to my desktop computer and linked to my wireless network. With Windows 7, setup was not the same as explained in the manual. The TRENDnet Wireless Utility icon never appeared and the program was nowhere to be found. Instead I used the Control Panel network tools, and from that point setup was a breeze.

*I use this for a wireless connection for my desktop pc
*Software was easy to install and connected to my Wireless N router (WNDR4000) at 144mb on the 2.4ghz
*The USB cord was a bit short but I had a spare male/female USB extension to resolve that.
*I tried the Linksys AE1000 and this adapter has a stronger connection and at a faster speed.

        Discovering TRENDnet

Comments about Trendnet 450Mbps Dual Band Wireless N USB Adapter:

I had not encountered TRENDnet products before looking for a replacement (add-on) wireless solution for my laptop, which despite coming with a Core I7 processor and Windows 7 Pro has a card that only does 2.4ghz. Since I have plenty of 2.4 gear I wanted to make use of the 5.0 band from my dual band router to avoid interference, only to be surprised by the laptop's shortcoming. My search led me to the TRENDnet TEW-684UB (after first trying a Linksys AE1000, which I returned upon finding this better featured item for the same price). Yes, it is a bit larger than a dongle, but the mini-modem style (about two inches tall) is actually pretty cool. Installed very easily, and got the latest updates from the TRENDnet site just as easily. The unit simultaneously connects me to both of my networks (quick to go between them) and maintains a solid 150mps or better on the 2.4 band and a consistent 450mps on the 5.0 band. Honestly, you cannot touch the performance for the price. The utility software it comes with is okay, though pretty elementary; I just use the drivers and manipulate the settings through windows. The only other con is that the User Guide does not tell you what the wi-fi symbol LED on the unit is telling you when it is either White or Green or Blue (I assume each color means something, but could not find an explanation). Bottom line: This is a great little workhorse with style, and I highly recommend it.

Comments about Trendnet 450Mbps Dual Band Wireless N USB Adapter:

I have this adapter connected to a Cisco-Linksys E4200 and getting 430 Mbps sustained connection to my pc (Windows 7). The pc and router are in the same room.

When I connect the adapter to my netbook (Windows 7) in the other end of my house, separated by a few very dense walls, sustained connection of 130Mbps.

I am very pleased, plus the price from B&H was the lowest.

The software installer will give the option to install the "drivers only" or "software & drivers".

The drivers only option would not allow the adapter to function, you need to install the software & drivers.

Luckily this option does not install some junk 3rd party software that supersedes the Windows 7 wireless configuration utility, they work together.

The software provides more options for the adapter and connection speed info.
