Comments about Fostex PM0.4n 36W 4" Active Nearfield Studio Monitor Speaker (Pair, Yellow):

Hi my name is Brandon, but my friends call me Branderson. I Produce and Engineer Electronic Music. I bought these speakers off B and H photo after many months of saving cash and careful research. I have to say these speakers are a big improvement from my cheap Optimus speakers, which I got at the thrift store. At the checkout I also purchased all the additional offered accessories such as a speaker stand pair, Auralex monitor pads, and some basic 1/4 conector cables. The website stated it would take at least a week and would arrive on friday. To my surprise, they arrived early this wednesday morning. I connected the speakers to the power grid and connected the audio inputs into my Yamaha Audiogram 3. I then adjusted the hight on the speaker stands to make sure they were at head level, in order to stand up and listen to my stereo mix for at the back of the room. I tested out the speakers in Reason 6.5. The speakers sound nice and crispy. With both the speakers and the audio interface both at half volume, it sounded loud and clear. And for the Bass Heads who like Slap in the trunk, my Roland 808 drums shlump.I only have 3 problems with these speakers, they are of minor concern, and will not inhibit your musical efforts.1 - The speakers were a lot smaller than I thought they would be (the pictures on the internet made them seem massive, similar to a KRK Rokit 8s)2 - The power on Led is an eye blinding blue, it can often break your concentration on producing.3 - They are not as powerful as KRKs or JBLs. But thats okay, those speakers are perfect for the job if you have lots of cash, or want to master engineer. These are basic speakers for getting the job done, a job they do quite well. If you can handle these tiny issues, you should not have a problem. In conclusion these speakers are a great price. They are reliable. They are cheap. And I am even thinking about getting another pair to pack in my gig bag.DONT THINK - BUY THESE SPEAKERS - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
