The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
The iMac is a strikingly elegant computer that will feel at home on virtually any desk.

I was very exited when I bought it 3 1/2 months ago. But many problems appeared from day one, maybe I had done something wrong. First it was extremely slow on Photoshop to load just a single 2GB photo besides other photo processes. Then crashing when loading web pages on Chrome, tried Safari but same or worse. I called customer service and a very nice lady helped me saying that just needed a reboot, some other stuff and guided me thru the process. This is my first mac so I had to trust her. Worked just fine after that but minutes later same thing. Started to do my homework, getting to know the machine, signed up on forums, you name it. After days of frustation I called again and a no so nice gentlemen Brian told me I needed to change Photoshop settings, Chrome is not compatible with mac and other things that didn't sound so right if you are talking about one of the most sophisticated computers around. Days later I went to an Apple store and a nice girl completely denied all allegations by Brian from customer service, that the computer is almost a perfect machine, and asked me to bring it to check it out. Days by and didn't bring it because is really big and even bigger with boxes and all. Is not something you carry around like a laptop. Finally I figured out it needed more RAM so I installed 16GB on it. Much, much better on Photoshop and overall processes. Regarding loading pages on Chrome, i just needed to change the DNS settings. It's been a few days and it works just incredible, bullet fast at loading pages, hasn't crashed again, amazing speed at photo processes. So far PER-FECT. If Brian had told me that before!!!
I didn't get use to the magic mouse, I went back to my lovely and small wireless laptop mouse.

Let me say I used to love my imac 27 inch - when it worked. Those computers are beautiful, however I can only advice you against buying one. Here is my story and why I will never buy another Apple product:
I bought a 27 inch imac in October 2011. In January I noticed that one side of the display had become darker than the other. I took the computer in to the Apple Store and the Geniuses replaced the display. When I brought the repaired computer home I realized that the new display had two dead pixels. So I took the computer back. This time the Geniuses swapped the display in 20 minutes. Unfortunately the new display had another dead pixel. Also a lot of dust had gotten stuck between the display and the glass in front of the display. So this time I took the imac to another store. To make the story short, the new display has a stuck bright pixel. I called Apple and the Genius on the phone told me that Apple only replaces displays once for dead pixels. You have to have 8 or more dead pixels to get a new display. Google Apple's warranty policy. Apple calls this policy an industry standard. By the way Dell's policy for their high end product is zero dead pixels. Most manufacturers have better standards then the industry standard that Apple quotes.
Apple's policy seems unacceptable to me. Apple currently has a serious problem with their displays and puts the risk of what appears a low cost low quality strategy on their customers. Not exactly what I expect from a manufacturer that charges premium prices. This is the kind of service that I made me switch from Dell to Apple. In addition, as an Apple customer you are forced to either go to a store or interact with Apple via phone. There is no email address to reach Apple customer service or to interact with someone higher up at Apple, which is hard to believe. Apple does this to save money, but the downside for customers is that there is nothing in writing.
I have spent about 10k on Apple products in the last 5 years, but that is it. Not a dime more for this kind of service. Apple is going the way that Dell went back in the days when Dell used to be big. If you still like Apple, then go ahead and take a 1.5k to 2k gamble on the display!

I'm able to run Lightroom 4, PS CS6, Safari with multiple windows, email and more ... it never slows down.
We paired it with Apple TV and stream our clients images directly to the big screen TV for sales presentations.

After several years of debating, I made the switch. Let me tell you it's not just hype. This machine is ideal is so many ways.
I use it for daily internet usage, Adobe Lightroom, and some audio work as well.
The screen is just as everyone else states: perfect. If you're wondering whether or not the 27" is too big, think again. Not only does the 27" IMac come with more processing power, the screen is just right. After a few days of use, it really feels like all screens should be atleast this size. I also worried it would run hot. It doesn't. The processing speed is remarkable. It's also almost totally silent. The only "issue" I've experienced is the slight flickering of the screen every few days or so which I've heard about on youtube reviews and other sites. It hasn't been an issue but it was worth stating here.

Upgrading from a Core Duo Macbook Pro and really notice the difference in applications opening, boot up, and qty of applications running at the same time. I upgraded to 12GB immediately.
Only downside was attempting to use the Lion Migration Tool. Had a lot of incomplete application transfers from the Macbook and then the iMac started crashing and rebooting. Used the new online Lion reload to start from scratch and have had no issues for the past month. Didn't receive Parallels 7, but B&H quickly corrected the issue. No running Windows 7 in Parallels and Bootcamp.

I am a Desktop Publisher who occasionally works from home. The reason I bought this iMac is because the spec is perfect for my job and I can utilize the bootcamp feature so I can install Win7 as well. Pretty much 2-in-1 machine (hence the 2x price compared to a similar spec'd Windows based machine).
It is speedy, the screen is nice and I could pretty much do a lot of heavy graphic and process huge design files with ease.
I would recommend this iMac for professional use and gamer alike.
The only downside is the keyboard that comes standard with the machine. It is lacking the Numeric Pad but I think thats minor.

I use this mainly for photo editing and switched from a Dell XPS 435 with 8GB RAM and Photoshop CS2. I am extremely happy. The display is stunning, and the machine is lightening fast (I had BH put in another 4GB ram). Photoshop and Bridge run perfectly. No stalls or slow downs. My only complaint is the "magic" mouse, that isn't the greatest device. It's not precise or that responsive. I have been told to switch to a touchpad, which I will likely do soon.

[...] Other than not being able to swap out the magic mouse with a track pad, I'm quite happy with my purchase. My iMac arrived without any problems and now that I've upgraded the RAM, it flies. Thunderbolt ports are nice and is the new camera that gives a much wider angle than the previous isight.

Apple always makes the best computers,, (my opinion) and now it's even better with this newest upgraded version, it is so fast, when I am loading FCP it takes like 4 sec to to come up, rendering process, is an other big time saving process.
