The 27" iMac Desktop Computer from Apple is a sleek all-in-one computer with a stunning 16:9 HD display. Capable of displaying 1080p HD video at full resolution, the display features a LED backlight and IPS panel technology for superior image quality. The iMac sports a sleek aluminum and glass industrial design, with a matching wireless slimline aluminum keyboard. Apple's innovative wireless Magic Mouse is included for cursor control, giving desktop users the same powerful multi-touch input capabilities that are found in Apple notebook trackpads -- in a desktop mouse form factor.
The built-in FaceTime HD camera hides discreetly above the LCD screen, giving you ready access to a webcam for Internet chat and conferencing. It will let you make video calls to other Mac users with the included FaceTime app, as well as to anyone with an iPhone 4 or an iPod touch model with a built-in camera.
The iMac features two Thunderbolt ports. Thunderbolt is a high-speed interface that can move data at an amazing 10Gbps -- double that of USB 3.0. Each Thunderbolt port doubles as a display output -- they share the same physical form factor as Mini DisplayPort. You can use each port to daisy-chain up to six devices -- making it possible to connect up to 12 Thunderbolt devices two this iMac -- including two external displays!
The system also features USB 2.0 and FireWire-800 ports for device connectivity. An SDXC slot is built-in as well, allowing you to download pictures from your digital camera directly into iPhoto.
iLife '11 has a complete suite of digital creativity applications. Easy enough for anyone to use, iLife will help you edit your home movies, organize digital photos, and compose original music. The system is also powerful enough to run Apple's professional-level applications, perfect for those who are ready to move up to the next level of creative software.
The computer is powered by a quad-core 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 processor for superior performance. It boasts 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD storage drive, a 1TB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, integrated speakers, and the SuperDrive DVD burner. The glossy 27" widescreen display is powered by an AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPU with 1GB of memory.
The 64-bit OS features Time Machine backup, which automatically backs up system data to an external hard drive. It also features intuitive Cover Flow navigation, the powerful Spotlight search tool, and Quick Look document preview. You'll be able to use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac.
The iMac is a strikingly elegant computer that will feel at home on virtually any desk.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
My first Apple ended up being a bad Apple! I'm a long time windows user and wanted to give Apple a try. The computer arrived and i was excited! I felt like a kid on Christmas morning opening up the package but the joy was short lived once i turned the power button on. The screen uniformity was horrible! On a white screen you could see a slight tan color shade towards the middle and bottom of the screen. On a black screen you could see very bad bleed in on all the corners. Was such a disappointment!!!! The computer is beautiful and performed very well enjoyed the mouse style on Apple. Felt like driving a Corvette with a annoying crack in the windshield.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
The only problem I have had with my iMac is the glossy mirror screen nightmare everyone complains about.
The GLOSSY SCREEN NIGHTMARE DISPLAY is so bad, how bad is it you ask? It is so bad that it gives you headaches and eyestrain. So bad, that I had to return it.
I have a solution to this problem. Offer a matte screen option. Half the population can't use glossy mirror highly reflective screens, especially if you are a PRO, and work for more than 45 minutes on your computer in a day.
Sorry folks, and I love macs. I would have given this 5 out of 5 star rating, but until they fix the screen issue, it is unusable to me. They need to offer a matte screen option before I re buy this product again.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Used by our graphic designer for web and print graphics. Upgraded the ram to 16gb ourselves with B&H supplied memory. Better specs than same price mac pro desktop. Screen is big enough to eliminate need for second monitor. Should you need it, adding a second screen is relatively easy with thunderbolt port. Only downside to IMAC design is difficulty with repairs and upgrades because of complex assembly. Overall a very good machine that should be more than enough for most. Those that need access to hardware internals should choose the Mac Pro.

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
This 27 iMac is the fastest desktop mac just shy of the 8 Core MacPro Tower station. The SSD internal drive makes launching of apps insanely fast. There are demos on Youtube that show you can launch nearly 50 apps in matter of 20 seconds or so. It has the thunderbolt connectors so multiple monitor setups are possible. The SSD makes video editing a breeze.
The SSD drive makes hard disk virtual memory work as fast as ram. The memory hog adobe apps fly on this machine. I easily upgraded the ram to 36GB with a simple screwdriver. You can't ask for an easier machine to install ram.
Performance is worth 5 stars.
However, I gave this 4 stars because the configuration has a bunch of misses.
One is the 1TB drive. I wish there was a 2TB option without resorting to the build to order. My second beef is the inclusion of the wireless keyboard. I'm not complaining about the wireless aspect. Just that the wireless keyboard is not a full numeric keypad keyboard.
If you are looking for a smoking fast workstation, this is it.
The display quality is gorgeous.

Use computer for software development (mostly). Very fast, especially with the SSD. Put in 16GB of RAM and can do lots of different things without running out of physical RAM. Great display. Paired it up with a Dell 30" monitory driven off of the DVI adapter. Couldn't be happier.

Macs are now cheaper with superior build quality than PC workstations. The Clear screen, the magic mouse and fabulous keyboard and the simple logical Lion O/S make this computer a joy to use. ALSO in Windows mode it scores 6.9 out of a maximum7.9

Comments about Apple 27" iMac Desktop Computer:
Home computer also used for business and work purposes. Very fast, very quiet and I love the SSD drive. Can't go back to SATA drives now. Screen is amazing, big and high resolution. Love the clean Mac approach to computing. No wires and bulky boxes like with PCs. Resource intensive applications and tasks happen very quickly, making doing such work more enjoyable as it happens immediately. Standard powersave features for screen and computer hardware help keep power and heat down. Didn't like being squeezed $200 for the 8GB of RAM when it is so much cheaper to buy and install yourself. Have since bought additional 8GB for $44. Not sure the extra internal Seagate Barracuda 1TB (3GB/s) drive in addition to the SSD drive was a good idea either. With Thunderbolt (10GB/s) and either 1TB 6GB/s SATA drives for $50 or upcoming hybrid SSD/SATA drives in external enclosures means that a 3GB/s internal drive is the bottleneck. Why not make use of that 10GB/s expansion bus? Will also want to add a magic trackpad in near future since Lion is optimized to make maximize its features that the magic mouse is left wanting. Plus, magic mouse sometimes loses connection and this can be very frustrating. Trackpad will enable reconnecting mouse in short time. [...]

I have had the new 27" iMac w/SSD drive for a couple of weeks now. I am really enjoying the large display and the speed of the processor. I enjoy trying different filter pallets in Photoshop 5 and having the previews show the adjustment instantly. It is great for photo editing.
