Questions? Ask our experts:

The orange Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack from Lowepro is a lightweight pack designed for heavyweight outdoor action and manufactured to handle a rugged trail race, mountain bike outing or photo trek up a local peak. Made from triple rip stop nylon, the Photo Sport 200 not only holds your DSLR with attached lens, but a flash as well in its dedicated Ultra-Cinch Camera Chamber side-access pocket. This Chamber compliments the dual compartment approach to the pack that permits you to carry both clothes, food and camera gear.

The Photo Sport 200 can instantly become a shooter's pack. Quickly rotate pack to the front, unzip the pocket, access your camera that is stored in shooting position, pull it out, get the shot, stuff it back inside and you're back on the trail ready to tackle the next pitch. For the hiking part, multiple attachment points on the pack permit you to secure everything from ski poles to jackets, hats, cell phones, keys or a decent-sized pack of trail mix to keep you going.

Adjustable shoulder straps and a padded waist belt keep it squarely on your back while a molded back pad offers more than sufficient airflow to keep you cool and comfortable on the trail. The water-resistant 70D nylon exterior keeps your contents dry but in case you get caught in a rain or snow squall, simply deploy the built-in rain fly that will encase the pack for even more protection. If you're a night person, you'll find reflective piping on the pack so you'll be able to be seen on the trail or road.

Additional front and side storage pockets will hold your maps, water bottles, gloves - whatever support gear you have. And speaking of water, there is also a hydration pocket that can hold an optional reservoir so you'll never have to worry about being thirsty on the trail. Backed by Lowepro's limited lifetime warranty, the Photo Sport 200 AW is well-named since it allows you to get out there on the trail to get the "photo", while also allowing you to engage in the serious pursuit of "sport".

It's a nice daypack for a man or someone with a large torso. For me, being only 5'3", this bag is way too long. It is uncomfortable to hike with, especially loaded down with everything needed for an all-day shoot in the forest. I'm going to let my husband decide if he wants this one and find one a little shorter. 5 stars for having a compartment for everything, as well as for make and materials! If it fits you, you'll be quite happy with it!

This is the perfect backpack for day hikes or for lugging gear through the city. The side zip pouch has ample room for my Canon 5D Mark III and the 24-70L lens AND my 16-35L wide angle lens. It can accommodate my 70-200L in the back as well as tripod head, flash, and other accessories. It has a pocket on the other side that I can carry my tripod in that balance the weight of the camera nicely. It also has room for a 3L hydration pouch in a separate compartment. I can even slide an ipad in the outside pouch. I would give the bag 5 stars for functionality and flexibility.
However, after just 3 trips, the main loop handle at the top of the bag has broken loose as has the elastic loop at the top/side of the bag. Perhaps it is the heavy load that I ask the bag to carry or perhaps I just got a lemon. Either way, I love the bag and hope they make one a little bit more durable so that it can handle a heavier load.

Comments about Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack (Black):

Good for traveling, however, the backpack should be a bit wider to allow people to fit at least a 13" laptop into the water bladder compartment. There should be more zippered compartments on the inside to let people store small things. The camera compartment should also be a bit bigger. I was able to put a Canon 16-35 f/2.8 and Canon 5D mk3 into the camera compartment. It does fit a bit snug though. If I was to carry another lens or flash, I would have to put it into the main compartment and use an insert to hold it in place. I'm able to fit a small travel tripod into the backpack or into the water bottle compartment. Overall, it's a good backpack; it just needs small improvements.

Bought the pack to take hiking with a DSLR. Has room for a flash and extra lens in the padded camera area. Also carried water, lunch and rain gear. Pack is very comfortable and well thought out. Even had to use the built in rain cover on a wet afternoon. We bought 5 of them for the whole family and everyone is extremely happy.

I use this bag to carry my gear for day trips hiking or biking. I plan on using it this winter for snow shoeing. What I really like about it is that not only does it carry my camera gear, it also carries my other essentials, such as food, snacks, water, etc.. I only need one bag for everything instead of having to carry two separate bags.

Comments about Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack (Black):

This is a great combo backpack for hiking and travelling with a camera. It has enough space in the padded camera compartment for a camera body/lens (Canon 5d Mk III w/ 24-70 attached in our case) along with room for another extra piece of equipment in the same compartment. The pics on the site show a speedlight, but we keep a 70-200 f2.8 in there and it works perfectly. The top compartment expands to hold whatever else you want to carry, and there is room against the back panel for a camelbak water bladder as well (the bladder isn't included, so we pulled one out of another camelbak). There are additionally a few zippered pockets both inside the main compartment and on the exterior that are great for holding batteries, memory cards, and anything else you want to secure. The ergonomic design is great and provides enough options (i.e. using the hip belt and chest strap) that you can comfortably wear it for a long time. I just wore this for 10 days while travelling around Ireland and didn't experience any of the usual neck/shoulder pain that I get from that much travel time with our other camera bags.

I use this pack mostly for mountain biking with my DSLR but it's great for hiking, snowshoeing or most any other day trips. It is a little large for being on the bike but it does the job when I want something more than a cellphone for taking photos. Good protection for the camera and 2nd lens and the easy side access is great for quickly getting shots. Plenty of room for normal supplies (spare tube, tools, etc), food and extra layers. Lots of adjustments to keep the weight balanced.

Two minor complaints: the back air flow could use a little more cross ventilation and the cinch straps should be quick release to make loading the water bladder easier.

Comments about Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack (Orange):

This was just what I was looking for. This backpack has a place to store my camera while hiking along, with a place for my water reservoir and other separate compartments as well. At first I didn't think the area for the water would work. It seemed a little tight, but after filling my reservoir with 48 oz of water, I had no problems. I like that the access to the camera is on the side so I don't have to totally remove the pack, just swing it off one arm. Had plenty of room for snacks and some other essential items I hike with, and still had room for more. I am so glad I purchased this and getting it from B&H was also a good choice. Not only did I find it cheaper here then any other site, they also shipped it out to me fast without having to pay extra shipping charges. This was my first purchase from B&H and it won't be the last!

Comments about Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack (Black):

I used it for a Trip to Big Bend with a 5D MKIII + 24-70 + 600EX-RT. Backpack made the trip very comfortable opposed to using a sling backpack that I normally use. I was able to carry all the camera gear + rain gear + hydration bladder + tripod for the whole trip, didn't feel from having it strapped on me. We did a 5 mile day hike.

Think the only critiques i have is that length between the Hip straps and the shoulder straps seem a bit small. The hip straps weren't really sitting on my waist to distribute the weight and the shoulder straps weren't able to use the cinching straps to take pressure off the shoulders.
Also, there wasn't a very good place to strap a Tripod to the pack. I strapped it to the bottom of the bag is where you would put mats, but not exactly ideal place as you set you bag down on it. You could fit it in to the bottle holder area, but
Also the cinching straps get in the way of the Hydration bladder, especially if its a full bladder and full pack, you have to undo the straps to insert.

I think overall it worth a buy if you like to do day hikes and carry a camera around.

Comments about Photo Sport 200 AW Backpack (Orange):

At first I just wanted a bag that would not look like a typical camera bag, once I received it, it became the ultimate weekend get away bag/day trip bag. a nice solid compartment for externally holding your tripod, straps on the bottom which i usually like to carry my sleeping back or a large towel for those awesome summer day trips. You can fit easily fit a prime lens and two other prime lens in the camera compartment or snuggly fit your 24-70mm. I always bring my laptop on my trips and this bag easily fits my 13" (easily fit 15").

What I really love is the raincoat compartment that pops out, you're always going to get those random rainy days and trust me, you'll need it.
I also really appreciate the two pockets along the waist buckle for your phone and compass or what not, safer than in your pocket.

Theres only two issues I have. the camera compartment is somewhat moveable although is impossible to fit a 70-200mm lens. Only way I can fit it is I remove the lens from the body. This gets really annoying and i have to end up squishing it in the top pocket when i'm in a rush. [it looks big enough but it's not]
The second issue is when you have your tripod strapped to the side, all clipped and placed inside the sleeve, if it does happen to rain, you'll need to remove the tripod and carry it as the raincoat given with the bag will not sufficiently cover the whole bag.

Other than those two issues, you won't regret your purchase, amazing quality, can't really go wrong with lowepro

Very durable pack with very useful and well placed storage. Sits very comfortably and is easily adjustable between my wife and I. Her Nikon D3100 and all accessories fit perfectly and has plenty of space for additional items for a long trek. We plan on hiking the Adirondacks this summer and I'm sure this will provide plenty of space and comfort for any long trek. I'm very impressed with this backpack.

I've taken this pack out in all sorts of terrain - from rainy/snowy weather to desert warm weather... it has not disappointed me. The *only* thing I'm not "in love" with is that the top pocket for "stuff" is not separate from the pocket that stores your camera - the camera is still separately stored and protected, but there is no divider to stop gear from getting stuck down under the camera - not a huge deal, just maybe a minor engineering mistake (seems like they could have put a liner in to prevent this problem). other than that, no problems... I've quite adequately used this bag and been very satisfied. (Note that it does, as other reviewers have mentioned, seem to carry a little heavy... this hasn't been a big bother to me, but I do agree that it does seem to do this).

Lots of space, ability to carry tripod and many other things. The camera section only has two strips of velcro so you can't adjust for smaller cameras. I have a m4/3 camera and it has to much room to move around and I can't seem to find a good setup to keep it in place

For a Lowepro, I was surprised at the poor design of this pack. I would have opted for more camera gear space and a less for other things. I'm 5'10' and this pack was not only very small but whoever designed the padding must have been an engineer. Very uncomfortable. I found the zipper for the camera gear to be flimsy and clumsy to access. Returning the pack and sticking with the Osprey, used with the inserts from a different photo bag - best hiking/photo combo for me. I have two older Lowepros that are still in great shape and fit well, to be fair.

This pack has all the bells and whistles of a hiking day pack, with the added benefit of carrying a camera with lens, and an additional telephoto lens. It also allows for a tripod to be strapped on as well. Its very lightweight and the best system I have come across to make carrying my camera and equipment on the trail comfortable and not a drag.

I have been wanting to purchase this for a while and finally did. I couldn't be happier. It transported my Olympus OMD EM1 camera and 2 additional lenses in the camera compartment without difficulty although I would love one more divider and a little more velcro to be able to customize it further. The top held all of my day gear (jacket/snacks/small bag with additional camera gear - filters/extra battery/SD card etc)as well as my tablet.
The best part turned out to be the attached rain cover since on the first day of my trip, it absolutely poured. Everything stayed dry and the camera was still easy to access by just pulling the cover aside (while under an umbrella).
As I had read in a previous review, the straps did curl slightly but since I will not be carrying heavy loads, it does not seem to be a problem for me.
The only thing I would change: It would be nice to have a small zipper compartment under the lid of the side access panel for battery/SD card/lens cleaning supplies.

I use this pack for 1-2 day trips, where I pack my camera and 3 lenses in the side-accessible compartment, my clothes in the draw-string compartment, a iPad or laptop in back designated pouch. The hip support has a fanny pack for small things like lens covers and gloves. One comment: I wished the outside mach pocket had a draw string to keep things intact. Otherwise.. love this backpack.

Lightweight and functional backpack. And that is what makes me love this product. It isn't a camera bag with shoulder straps. The Lowepro Photosport 200 AW is a great backpack first. And it happens to hold my camera gear too. Super lightweight, well thought out, and comfortable during strenuous outdor activity (backcountry skiing). Holds the essential camera gear i need and room for my gear for a day out ski touring. Room for a hydration bladder is a nice touch. If you take your time outdoors seriously, you'll love this pack.
