I wanted something large enough to carry my gear and a few extras while traveling and on short hikes. Because I have a Panasonic GH2 I found many bags were too big or made to carry tons of gear. If you have a micro four-thirds system the padded section is very nicely sized to accomodate your kit relatively snuggly. I am including a photo of what I can easily fit into the bag to illustrate how versitle it is. In the photo: GH2 with 14-140 kit, Oly 9-18 lens, Oly 45mm portait lens, 3 filters and extention tube for macro, Joby tripod, jacket, water bottle, box of granola bars, and iPad with room to spare. Only thing I can think of to impove the bag would be a few smaller pockets for memory cards and other little things.

Great quality product. Very lightweight. Fits camera (without battery grip) with a standard kit lens and one additional lens. The amount of extra storage is ample and I've been able to bring a change of clothes plus extra items. The sling part is neat and very easy to use to retrieve your camera quickly.

Cons: Uncomfortable to wear with too much weight. It will sag down and you can feel it pull.
the 60D barely fits, it's tight and you can see the strain on the zipper.
The main compartment opens into the whole bag so small items might slip down to the bottom of the bag under the camera divider. Makes for a pain to retrieve small things.

Comments about Photo Sport Sling 100 AW (Orange):

This sling bag is exactly what I was looking for. It is light weight for hiking, but has room for my a6000 and an extra lens along with some light hiking supplies. A jacket. Some energy bars. Sunblock. It all fits nicely in the top compartment. I also like that I can actually push a jacket all the way down beside the camera compartment. I was wanting a bag that I could access without taking it off and this bag works great.

Comments about Photo Sport Sling 100 AW (Orange):

Have used this pack a half dozen times now for short outings and its great. Its perfect for short hikes and trips, very light weight and comfortable. Snuggly fits my T5i, spare battery and a telephoto lens in the camera pouch. Theres also room for other things like wallet, keys, phone, sunglasses, small jacket, etc.. I've tried jogging with it but it unfortunately bounced around a bit. I might just need to tighten things but didn't try as I don't normally jog with it. Just wanted to test it out. I specifically chose it for its small compact size and after using this one I am thinking I might get the larger one as well for longer day trips where this one might be too small.

Comments about Photo Sport Sling 100 AW (Orange):

I was excited to receive this bag. I was looking for a sling bag to hold my new Canon 6D. This bag looked like it would fit the bill. To me this bag was a disappointment. The camera barely fit in the protective compartment. The top compartment wasn't protective at all. The bag was well made as are all of the LowePro products that I have used. One other thing about this bag that I found odd, when you opened the top compartment it was open all the way to the bottom of the bag, so smaller items could fall all the way to the bottom of the bag. This review will ask me if i would recommend this to a friend, what I will add is this could be a useful bag depending on how you want to use it. This simply did not work for me. It is going back.

I wanted something to carry my camera and a few essentials when biking or hiking or just travelling. This has enough space for a camera and a lens plus it can safely carry water, a rain jacket, food and maps. It is still small and comfortable enough to wear whilst cycling and is easy to swing around to retrieve the camera without having to remove the backpack.

Comments about Photo Sport Sling 100 AW (Black):

This was my final purchase choice after spending a ridiculous amount of time searching for the 'perfect' pack and I am not disappointed with LowePro's Photo Sport Sling 100 AW. I realize not everyone has the same needs so I'll share with you what I was looking for and you can decide if these are important features for you.

What I was looking for in a camera pack or sling:
      1. Fast access to my camera/lens
      2. Able to access my camera/lens without having to take the pack off
      3. Holds my camera gear (I am a minimalist when it comes to gear so I don't have a lot: one Canon Rebel camera, 2 lenses: kit & 50mm, compact tripod (MeFoto traveler), and 1 external flash), smaller pockets for smaller things (such as batteries and memory cards), a water bottle, and room for a few personal items such as a bit of food, light jacket, my phone, keys, and small wallet.
      4. High quality material and construction. I don't like to buy things twice.
      5. Compact size. A little bigger than my cycling pack but not as big as my day pack. I also didn't want it sitting low on my back (I'm a 5' 4' female – so I needed something a little smaller since most of these packs seem to be fitted for men, but it needed to be big enough to hold my current gear)
After brand-name cost/quality comparisons, I narrowed my search down to Lowe-Pro.
      My top choices were:
      1. Flipside 200
      2. Transit 250
      3. Photo Sport Sling 100
The first one to scratch off my list was the Transit. It held a wider variety of gear (such as a tablet), which I plan to buy at some point, but I didn't like the flimsiness of the outer shell. It appeared to be too 'soft'. It also didn't hold a water bottle on the outside; big drawback for me.

The Flipside 200 was my first choice for a long time. I loved the concept of having ALL my gear accessible without taking the pack off. I even more loved the fact that it couldn't be accessed from the outside – that was the BIG selling point for me; I was hung-up on that feature for a long time. I lived in Central America and have taken my camera in the mercados (markets); 'thief-proof' is an important feature to me for traveling.

The reasons I finally decided against the Flipside were:
      1. It holds gear. That's it. No matter how I imagined making it work, there is not much room for anything else and the repeated comment by those who purchased it was the outside accessory pocket was too small.
      2. I didn't like the tripod attached to the back. It just seemed like it would cause my tripod to flop from side-to-side and I found a review that confirmed that it is an issue.
      3. I actually 'practiced' The taking-off of one strap and swinging the pack around to the front of me as opposed to 'slinging' it to the front as with a sling pack, and I found it more cumbersome than I expected. Mind you, I was using my backpack, not the actual Flipside, but it still gave me a good idea. I felt the sling style pack was a quicker draw. I decided to sacrifice the access of more gear for a faster draw.

The Photo Sport Sling 100 seemed like the best fit. I was tempted with the 200 size but after measuring, it would rest too low on my lower back and you loose the single sling-style strap. It has regular back-pack straps.

I am happy with this pack because:
      1. It has room for a few personal belongings, not just camera gear, so I don't need a separate bag when going somewhere.
      2. It holds everything I wanted it to. Technically it isn't designed to hold both a water bottle and a tripod; it's one or the other in the side-pocket, but there are straps on the bottom for holding a jacket or a pair of shoes. These straps are not secure enough to prevent a tripod from sliding around BUT if I leave my tripod in it's own bag, it works great! So, water bottle secured in side-pocket and tripod underneath.
      3. It fits perfect. Not too low on the back; not too bulky.
      4. My Rogue Flashbender even fits! That has always been a hard thing to fit in my previous bags.
It just slides down the side on the inside. So does my hairbrush :)
      5. It's built to last and it withstands the rain. The built-in rain-cover came in handy in a sudden downpour while in Nelson, BC!
      6. Since I like to bike, the reflective piping is an added bonus when out riding past dusk. And, yes, it's great for biking; another important feature for me.

      What isn't perfect about it:
      1. My biggest complaint is that the compartment that holds the camera and one lens or flash (accessible from the side when you 'sling' it around), is not attached to the inside lining so when you put stuff in the upper section, it can slide down in next to the 'sling' compartment. But, the positive side is that it makes it so I can get my Flash-Bender in there. It's just annoying when my Flash slides down the side when I don't want it to.

      2. If the upper section is not full, the top just kind of flops over. The nice 'full' look you see in the picture is only attainable if you have a jacket or something stuffed in the upper section. I use the top pocket to hold my cell-phone, keys, and any other small personal items, so the added weight does cause it to flop over a bit but it's not a huge issue.

I decided, as much of a minimalist as I like to try to stay, I will eventually need two different packs for two different purposes. This pack best fits my current needs.
My plan is to eventually get the Flipside SPORT SLING if I ever need a pack strictly for a photo shoot and attain a few more lenses. I also prefer the weatherproof cover it has (like the Photo Sport Sling) and the more secure tripod holder (the best in their line, actually) than the regular Flipside. But for now, the Photo Sport Sling suits me great for day trips and photo assignments since I only own minimal gear and carry few personal items. Again, water bottle holder is a must for me. I don't care for hydration packs.

A couple other notes that might be helpful:

      1. The sling strap is excessively long for me. It could accommodate a person with a good sized belly. Although it's not really interfering with anything, I plan to take the pack to a seamstress or shoe repair shop and have them shorten the strap about a foot.

      2. I have a Canon Rebel and it fits very snug in it's compartment. If you have a full-frame Canon or Nikon, IT WON'T FIT without a fight. If you have a battery pack attached, forget it.

Please keep in mind that I am a tough critic on products. I would only give 5 stars if it was absolutely perfect in every way! I do love my pack though...very happy with it!

+ has room for a 2 liter camelback. Very nice for hiking.
                    - the pad between you and the camera is thin for comfort if you have a largish camera. I have a 6D. That is about the largest body you could use this bag with. Smaller would be better.

Comments about Photo Sport Sling 100 AW (Orange):

First the background - So, I do lots of hiking and I have tried several (5-6 or so) backpacks to carry my camera and a lens or two for a day hike (including snacks, extra jacket, and other misc items. Most backpacks can fit it for a dayhike, but not many were comfortable.

The Goods - I continued my search until I found this pack. I love it, and have stopped looking. It fits everything I need, and has some room to spare. I was surprised because it looks small, but actually fit everything. Looks can be deceiving. I am more than happy with this pack for my day trips. The sling part is a huge bonus as it allows for quick easy access to my camera (5d MkII and 24-105L lens). I have enough space for an additional smaller prime or a flash as well in the padded section.

In addition to my camera I carry a water bottle, cell phone, keys, snacks and lunch, wind jacket, and down jacket (ultra packable one). It all fits.

If your up in the air, try one out, I'm sure you will love it.

I loved this bag up to the moment that I slapped it on my back. The pressure from the bag was uncomfortable and the bag did not sit well on my back. I couldn't find a good strap setting to make it fit me will (I'm about 6', thicker shoulders). The biggest let-down was that the back never felt as secure as I would like. It just felt like it wanted to slip off, and I couldn't keep the bag with the thought that my camera might take a dive off a cliff. For piece of mind and additional comfort, I'm definitely upgrading to the 200 AW.

I was looking for a sling camera bag that would hold my Nikon D5000 and 2 lens with storage for other items as well. this bag is just the right size, quick easy access to the camera via side pocket. Able to strap tripod on bottom of bag. Very comfortable to wear, this was a great purchase.

This is a great bag. It seems small, but I like the fact that my equipment fits tight within it. Most other bags leave enough room that your gear "rattles" around a bit. Most bags that hold full size DLSR gear sits high off your back as well. This makes it uncomfortable after a few hours. This bag fit my camera with grip, and three lenses tight and comfortable against my back for hours. Really easy to manage on planes. I just wish they had more color choices.
