The LCDVF 16/9 Viewfinder helps turn your DSLR into a video camera. Attaching a viewfinder reduces glare and flare, and helps to keep you focused on the scene, without distraction from people or movement in your peripheral vision. Designed for cameras like the GF1, GF2, NEX 5 and NEX 3, among others, the 16/9 Viewfinder magnifies the scene on your camera's 3.0" LCD by 220%. That translates into viewing your video on a 42" screen from almost 5' away.

Other noteworthy features of the 16/9 include its 180° flippable design for viewing with either eye, and a magnetic mounting interface, which makes for easy attachment and removal. The finder's AR coating and optically correct lens provide a clear view. In addition, the viewfinder won't block ports on the camera, allowing for easy access without having to remove the device, and its splash and dust proof design ensures a clear view every time you use the viewfinder.

LCD ViewFinder turns your video enabled DSLR LCD screen into a huge electronic viewfinder for precise image evaluation - it's like viewing a 42" screen from 140cm (4.6 feet)

This viewfinder will not work properly with the newer NEX models (such as the NEX-F3) with a "flip-up" Display that invert the image when positioned 180 degrees for a front facing view. The magnetic mount of the viewfinder activates a "magnetic" switch inside the camera (that inverts the image) when mounted causing the image to become inverted even in normal viewing mode. Image remains inverted at all angles. The viewfinder is however a good value for older NEX-3's or 5's (and maybe the 6 and 7) and will work on some camcorder screens as well.

This a well thought out, well built product. Only flaw is if you don't have perfect vision you will not be able to get your screen in focus thus rendering the viewfinder useless. I returned it.

I use this product with the Panasonic Lumix GH2. Lightweight, fits nicely with magnets to screen, and detaches easily. You can wear it around your neck when not in use, and is a breeze to quickly snap back onto LCD screen. The best part about the product is that it magnifies what the camera sees to ensure critical focus, which the camera's viewfinder and LCD alone are not as well suited for. The other great aspect of this loupe is it provides 3 points of contact and can improve your steadiness while shooting without a tripod or monopod.

NOTE: On the GH2, you can no longer tightly snap the camera's LCD screen flush with the camera body because of the magnets. I recommend placing a plastic screen protector over your camera's LCD, as I now leave it exposed to allow quick re-attachment of the loupe.

I think this is an excellent product and I am glad to see BH has started stocking it. Functionally it is extremely easy to use, the magnetic attachment is solid yet not too hard to remove. The optics are sharp and the LCD becomes huge to the eye (you can even see the gaps between pixels). The included accessories are also a nice touch. The fabric eye piece cover is definitely nicer than the rubber and the neoprene carrying case is a nice touch. The only downside is size but that is true of any loupe. I use it on a NEX-5n and prefere the modular solution to the deidcate EVF.

Received the LCDVF 16/9 and tried it out on my Nex-5n right away. I did not want to glue the frame on my LCD directly so I installed a Clarivue screen protector and glued it on there. Kept some weight on it and it is solid strong. Magnetically clipping the LCDVF to the frame is secure although I wouldn't carry the camera from there. The picture quality of the LCDVF is great and it makes the focusing a breeze. Best of all it leaves the accessory port free. I really like the foam pad that the company included for the eye piece as well as the carry pouch. What I do not care for is the lanyard, it is annoying and it gets in the way. The one thing I would have liked is a diopter setting but this is not the case. I guess it is one way to bring price down compared to other similar products.

The magnetic attachment feels quite secure, though the plastic is soft enough that it'll nick very easily when dropped. Unfortunately, though the magnetic frame attaches unobtrusively to the camera, it prevents the LCD from ever folding back in - you'll need an LCD protector for when you don't have the viewfinder attached. As for the viewfinder itself, the colors are not too far from "reality" - a bit higher in contrast.

I use the viewfinder on my gh2 and helps out alot when it's sunny.. The magnets to fallout once in a while but I just used a little crazy glue and it solved the problem...

This is a very nice and well-made product which will certainly find its niche.
However, as it says in the product description, it DOES NOT have a diopter. I overestimated my ability to be able to view through this and had to return mine. I will buy again when it comes with a diopter. Don't hesitate to buy if you have young eyes!
