The Asus PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor boasts P-IPS with 98% Adobe RGB coverage. That translates into a wide color gamut with reproduction of over 1.07 billion colors. Increasing the display's color capabilities would be the pre-calibration of the monitor which ensures color accuracy out of the box. Additionally, a 178° wide viewing angle prevents color shift from occurring on the screen, no matter what angle you're looking from.
The display also features a 12-bit Look-up Table. That means that RGB colors have greater depth, or smoother, more accurate color resolution. There's also the QuickFit virtual scale which helps you to see your documents on the screen in their actual size, with a grid on top for precise viewing and editing. Other highlights include customized color adjustment and picture-in-picture capabilities. Ergonomically, the PA246Q adjusts to fit your needs with swivel, pivot, tilt, and height adjustments. And when it comes to connectivity, the screen features the following connections: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, and D-sub (VGA). All cables except for the HDMI cable are included. The display comes with a 7-in-1 card reader and two USB 2.0 ports.

I use the monitor for editing my scanned tiff images from a Nicon Cool Scan V ED, as well as my RAW files from my Canon 1d III. I'm a serious amateur nature photographer trying to sell/ publish, (magazines, galleries), my photos, so color accuracy is vital to me. I have the monitor and my Epson R2400 printer calibrated through a Color Munki so that they render color images similar to each other. The monitor runs great at 1920 X 1200 and 32 bit color depth off of a VGA cable for now. The monitor's front panel buttons are difficult to see in low-light situations, but they are easy to navigate through when setting Adobe RGB and other needed features. I still don't understand how to use the on-screen grid displays, but I primarily use this monitor for my photography, so this is not important to me. The best feature about the monitor is the price vs. features; I don't know how they can make a monitor with 1920 x 1200 full HD and 1.05 color-rendition for around $500, but I'm grateful for it. I would definitely recommend this product, especially considering that comparable monitors by other manufactures are going for around $1500- $2000.

Owned since dec 2011, it barely survived 10 months. Plenty of hot pixels & the lower left corner was hotter than the rest. I could sorta live with it. Then out of the blue it just didn't turn on.
I mailed it to Asus repair within warranty and they refused to work on it. When I asked for a refurb model, they refused. They stopped responding at some point. To top it off, they next dayed my broken monitor back to me.
2 weeks of FB, twitter posts later, Customer loyalty says the techs told them the damage was so severe, that every part needed replacing. Apparently there were photos. The problem is their techs mailed me photos and they barely took off the monitor enclosure. And given my knowledge of repair, it was a power board. So how is that everything?
The other maddening thing is being told the damage was so severe, it was caused by me. No, it was caused by poor craftsmanship.
In other words, they don't want to replace it or even attempt a fix. They give you a 3 year warranty so you think you're getting a steal. Guess what, you're being robbed blind if you buy from Asus.

Comments about ASUS PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
This is what I stare at big chunks of every day. It's the monitor for my Mac Mini i7. I've used it for about five months now. Great picture, I've been very happy with it! The colors reproduce really well in my photographs, very rich with deep blacks. Video looks wonderful as well. I also enjoy watching Blu-Ray on it. It has just enough size and resolution for me, although at times I wish it were bigger while doing digital audio, with all the various plug-ins windows open. I really love how the monitor can adjust up and down, and side to side so much. I move it all the time depending on where I'm sitting. The silky smooth, matte screen surface is perfect, very minimal glare. If there is, on a bright day, just tweak the monitor sideways a bit - no effort. It does run hot, it is warm overall, but toasty air comes out the top. Nice in winter. Summer? Hmmm. It is a very quiet monitor; only the very faintest hum of the electronics inside. It's a very attractive looking design, and the shipping materials were top notch, extremely well packed. OK, now for the very MINOR complaints. I wish the adjustment buttons on the front were easier to see and or feel. (But the interface is fine) And every once in a while, it's happened like three times, the screen goes into a static display, as if it has lost signal. I just turned it off and right back on and it was fine. I have had none of the negative issues involving this model that I have read in the other reviews. (I'm knocking on wood right now.) And I researched a lot before buying this one - it seems I chose very well. I wanted the wide gamut, and the physical adjustability. Oh, one more thing: it certainly is a BRIGHT monitor. I cannot look at a white screen on it even when it's at it's LOWEST brightness setting. A requirement is that I MUST use a free software called "Brightness Control" by Splasm.com that is a handy, easy way to tweak the brightness as the ambient lighting (or my eyes) require. This software will let you take the monitor down to black. I don't understand why monitors, my iMacs included, don't let you take the brightness all the way down. It's a must if you work in a very dark studio like I do. Anyway, tiny picks aside, awesome monitor. Incredible value, B&H did have the best price BTW. They usually do, that's why I get most of my gizmos from them. Thanks.

Comments about ASUS PA246Q 24.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor:
An "upgrade" for me, 10bit, but the nice things is that this panel is "larger" than my other 24" monitor as it's 16x10 so seems larger than my other 16x9 monitors.
My "old" calibrator was not up to the job so I also bought a I1 Display Pro, hoping that unit will be an improvement.

I shoot hundreds of bracketed photos a session, have to judge between simple RAW editing of one of them or using HDR for all 3. This monitor, calibrated with Spyder Elite using all the available necessary adjustments, is completely up to the task of subtle exposure and color variations.
What a deal at the price, it is only missing a hood. I'll have to make one.

Arrived in perfect shape and was very easy to set up. The unit is wonderful with many different settings on color and an array photo formats. Brightness is extreme but can be set to personal preference. Adjustments in all directions for viewing with a non glare screen and low price point make this 245Q a logical buy for anyone that doesn't have $ to set fire to. I am a photographer that needs a monitor to refine the images enough to make a profit in short order. You can not go wrong buying this one.

When comparing web pages or pictures side-by-side, on several of my other monitors, I am totally in awe of my ASUS PA246Q.I'm on a limited budget, so I probably spent 20 to 30 hours researching what flat panel to purchase. While it is probably overkill for how I am using it (no screen-to-print applications), I am very pleased with my decision to buy this monitor.Note: Something that I did not see mentioned in anyone's comments / reviews, was the need to pay attention to what resolution your video card will support. In my case, my current video card does not support the native 1920x1200 resolution, so I am currently running 1600x1200.I like this monitor so much that I am currently researching new computers with dual monitor capabilities (support for 3840x1200, 2 monitors @ 1920x1200 each). I plan to purchase another ASUS. I'm just now sure if it is going to be a PA246Q (P-IPS supporting 1 billion colors) or a PA248Q (E-IPS LED-backlit supporting 16 million colors).
