The only thing that could make me give this pole 5 stars would be a built in shoulder pad. It compacts reasonably well. When extended, it tightens into place nicely. It has a hand grip. It doesn't have built-in mic cable control but since it was so much cheaper than the rest of the poles, I will gladly do a little tape job on my mic cable. It also doubles as a handy tool for whacking your brother when he's being annoying. This pole feels a little light (breakable?) but as long as you don't drop it from a second story window, I think it will be okay.

We picked this up for use on an indie film shoot in Kansas City on 35mm shot with an Arri. The pole worked for 1/2 a day and began to rattle terribly and affect the shotgun mic recording. Later that afternoon we tried to collapse the pole down to its storage height and it wouldn't close. We managed to get it closed, but after lunch when we reopened the pole section 1 separated from the second section. We put it back in place, but it would no longer stay extended. We had to gaff tape it to finish the day of shooting then went to a rental house to get a proper boom pole for the remaining 3 days of the shoot. This is a piece of junk, don't bother. It is worthless for field or serious recording work.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to use it correctly because I dont have the adapter to connect my Rhode Video Mic Pro to it but I used some tape
and card board to make my own adapter piece and I'm very happy with the boom pole as far as that. I am very sure thought that if I had the proper adapter I would be extremely satisfied with the boom pole by On-stage. I would advise those on a budget to choose this boom pole.

Where to begin. Super cheap Light weight junk. No bolt so forget just screwing on a shock mount. You need a headless 3/8's bolt as an intermediary between the two.

We were filming outdoors for a client on a windy and cold day. The pole was able to hold the mic and resist the wind yet we thought the pole wouldn't last in the heavy winds. Boy were we wrong, and it was super durable and incredibly strong as a really light pole.

Sorry, this is the first bad review of any product purchased from B&H. My purpose is to use it as an extension for a GoPro. Treat it lightly and it should be okay, but it is so poorly constructed that it fell apart in shipping. With some work I put it back together, but it is not strong or trustworthy.

I use this for video production. It's a pretty simple boompole. Sturdy enough for what I need, but it's not the best out there.

Comments about On-Stage MBP7000 Microphone Boom Pole:
Its good for a few applications but after a while the plastic tightening mechanisms start cracking and failing.
So if you need a quick temporary boom pole this will work for $50+, but if you plan on doing audio for a while then don't be fooled by the lightweight and long length. Spend the extra $125 on something made to last.
