The compact 600 dpi DS40 Digital Photo Printer from DNP combines high-speed printing with dye-sub technology to produce high-quality photos up to 6 x 9" in size. The printer can produce high-quality 4 x 6 photos in under 8 seconds. As your printing needs increase and one printer isn't enough, you can quadruple your print speed by connecting 4 DS40 models. Once the printers are linked you can stack them to conserve space thanks to their flat-top design.
The DS40 uses a unique internal print method to protect the paper from dust and other contaminants and is easy to maintain thanks to its front-panel media loading and maintenance.

Of all dry sublimation printers I've worked the best. I recommend: fast, light to carry, easy to set up, etc..

Comments about DNP DS 40 Professional Photo Printer:
As an owner of two DS40 units, I travel shooting Ballroom dance comps and use both to print between 1200 and 4000 prints per event. At this volume and constant use, I can confidently say that these units are not confidence inspiring as I have never shot an event without multiple jams of the paper roll and occasionally the ribbon. However, one thing we have noticed is that if you run out of paper but not ribbon, you really need to change both anyway. A new roll of paper with a partially used ribbon seems to cause the bulk of jams for some reason. We started changing both at the same time and things were much smoother and less stressful.
Don't tip the printer on its side or upside down when transporting the printers if there are trimmings in the collection cup as they will get lodged in the cutter or paper path resulting in a printer offline for 20-45 minutes.
The latest firmware and drivers offered significantly improved color and exposure over the original software from when we purchased these.
No other printer is as cost effective on small prints. If it didn't jam, it would get 5 stars.

Comments about DNP DS 40 Professional Photo Printer:
I"ve moved up to these printers from a lower-priced dye sub set. These are outstanding printers both on-site and in the studio.
Two things jump out at me right away: First, they are very easy to load and if they ever jam (which they have not yet) the media path is accessible, unlike cartridge-style ribbons and paper.
Second, the color and gradients are on a par with good inkjets. My other brand printers are terrible with highlights and skintones without lots of adjustmetns. The DNP's nail it every time.
I have two DS 40s and two DS 80's and am looking to add more very soon.

Comments about DNP DS 40 Professional Photo Printer:
I purchased this product for on location event printing capabilities such as weddings and green screen photos. The ease of use, print speed, and print quality are fantastic. The cost per image is the best on the market. The only reason for giving this printer 4 stars is that the company has not yet released a print driver for Mac 10.8. I am an all Mac photographer and waited for several months before upgrading to 10.8. Much to my surprise, DNP has not yet released a driver and the current driver for 10.7 will not install. I am using a friend's computer on loan to make prints. This is the only complaint but a big one if you have already upgraded your OS.

Comments about DNP DS 40 Professional Photo Printer:
I bought 2 of these printers for Hi volume printing on jobs. They work great, and fast, and have a good durability in a small but hefty package.
1) print fast
2) I have traveled from NY to LA, Chicago, Dallas and a many other city's with the printers they hold up to air travel and ups/fed ex shipping.
CONS
1) if traveling make sure you have a supply of paper or plan ahead there aren't many dealers that supply outside of NY B&H
2) the printer seems easy to load but does take practice could be me but have troubling loading it under rushed party situations, jams are somewhat easy to fix just stay calm

Recently had back to back spring fair events on the weekend and the DS40 just kept on going. Prints were sharp with abit of an adjustment and the matte finish was not bad. So far so good.
