The Bosch DVR-630-16A200 Digital Video Recorder (16-Channel, 2 TB) uses H.264 compression technology that helps reduce video file sizes without compromising on the quality and integrity of images. Videos can be viewed at resolutions up to 1440 x 900 pixels. Search and playback functions allow you to quickly access recorded video. The DVR allows you to record multiple video and audio signals, and use live multi-screen viewing and playback at the same time. It begins recording automatically, once cameras are connected and the power is applied.

With the embedded design, the DVR offers reduced maintenance and operational costs. The 2 monitor outputs offer full-screen, quad and multi-screen viewing modes. The on-screen display menu allows you to easily operate and program the DVR, using the front panel control keys, mouse, IntuiKey Series keyboard or the supplied remote control. The rear panel contains the looping auto-terminating video inputs and outputs, audio inputs and outputs, and alarm inputs and outputs.

The DVR-630-16A200 can be controlled over a network using the Control Center PC software or built-in web application for live viewing, playback, and configuration. It carries out an authenticity check for both local and remote playback, ensuring recording integrity. Recorded videos can be archived using the provided USB port. The DVR offers an archive player for viewing secure video files. Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) support ensures that suitably configured mobile devices can display live video streamed by the DVR over the internet. The DVR-630-16A200 also provides features such as video loss detection and audible alarm, and supports Bosch and Pelco protocols.

Comments about Bosch DVR-630-16A200 Digital Video Recorder (16-Channel, 2 TB):

I chose Bosch for my DVR because I am very happy with the Bosch cordless drill I own. Yes, I know that's a poor criterion but where were you to advise me at the time I thought it made sense? While the recorder might be technically OK, the user interface sucks. You cannot skip from clip to clip with a single click of the mouse or a key on the keyboard, per se. Instead, you have to fast forward through each clip until you come to the beginning of the clip you are interested in. Or you could exit the viewing frame, select the next clip in the list, and then start the playback again. Very cumbersome. If you do a search, the default start time and date is the time and date of your first ever recorded video. So if you want to search for something that happened six hours ago, you must change the day, month, and year to conform to today's date. It would have been easy for them to have a "sticky" date but their programmer didn't have time for that. I get very tired of changing the date from June 2, 2011 each and every time I want to do a search, especially when I want to do multiple searches for the same date and time range. To bring up the menus, you must lower the mouse to the bottom of the screen where the popup menu will obscure the 2-3 thumbnails you have down there (of 16 in my case). To export a particular clip to a jump drive (your only choice for export media), it will only permit one format: Bosch's own proprietary format i.e. a ".600" file format. Only Bosch's "Archive Viewer" can view it which it kindly lays down on the jump drive as well. The Archive Viewer does permit an export to an AVI file but even that format is not playable by some film editing programs. I use Sony Vegas and it cannot view Bosch's AVI format. If you want to view the cameras remotely, I hope you have MSIE 9 or 10. It will not work with Chrome for sure, or any other browser as far as I know.

Comments about Bosch DVR-630-16A200 Digital Video Recorder (16-Channel, 2 TB):

This is a replacement DVR. It replaced an older Bosch version. It has a much longer recording time and you can add additional memory at a reasonable price. I like that I can connect through a mobile app to view cameras in the office.
