The Cam Caddie Accessory Wing is a 10" (25.4cm) flat bar that is used with the accessory shoe to offer extra spacing on the camera support for mounting camera accessories. It can be mounted onto any 1/4-20 thread and a tripod top plate to attach multiple accessories. The bar is compatible with accessories such as Lite Panels, Mics, Monitors & Lavaliere Transponders, etc. You can attach it directly to the camera via the Cam Caddie 1/4-20 Flash Shoe Adaptor.

This is perfect when you want to mount multiple items to the Cam Caddie Scorpion. I have 2 LED lights and a mic that I use when filming at night. This allows me to mount everything on the Scorpion in a clean quick set up.
I also use a 1/4-20 adapter to attach this directly to my camera.

So you'll need to purchase a few 1/4" bolts to make it useful, as it doesn't come with any. Most tripod screws won't be long enought to thread through the bar and into the camera. The other two holes aren't threaded, and are too small to accept a 1/4" bolt, so you'll need to bore them out bigger if you want to use a other 1/4" accessories. The groove for the cold shoe wasn't a clean cut, so I had to remove a few burrs with a file in the track before it accepted the cold shoe.

Well, I thought this would be just the thing for mounting a light and a sound recorder side by side above my camera. However, the width of the groove on this bar is too thin to mount standard shoe mounts both directions. You can only go one direction, and for my purposes it's the wrong direction. My lights only mount with this bar aiming front to back, not side to side. It's not like a WIDE shoe on the top of your camera, it's like a DEEP one. Didn't work for my needs.
