easy to put drive in, and it is recognized right away by my macbook. I need it to transfer data from old hd's to new ones, and haven't done the work yet, but i expect it will do the trick, and for the right price

Comments about Sabrent ECS-STU35K USB 2.0 and eSATA to 3.5" SATA and IDE Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

I needed to recover my Documents from an IDE hard drive and move them to my new SATA hard drive. This Enclosure worked absolutely perfect for my needs. It's just a basic enclosure that I will continue to use to back-up my documents to my external hard drive.I don't think that I will leave it on continuously but rather use it as needed. The height of this product did not allow me to secure the top, as I feared that some of the wiring could become crimped, but that wasn't a necessity and did not in any way diminish the function or purpose...I just left the top off.

Comments about Sabrent ECS-STU35K USB 2.0 and eSATA to 3.5" SATA and IDE Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

This is a nice hard drive enclosure, constructed out of aluminum. It should be pretty durable and also conduct the heat away from the hard drive, even though there's no fan. Not much in the way of padding, and the hard drive is in contact with both the solid aluminum top and bottom covers. But it is definitely sturdy, and it also stands up on end. It would be good for backup and mass storage, but probably not so much for travel unless you carry it in something padded. The hard drive was a little tricky to install, just trying to line up all of the screws, but once it was in, it was very secure. The compatibility with both IDE and SATA is also a plus for me. It is pretty quite, although the "hard drive noises" are a little louder than the hard drive in your computer, just since this case is a bit smaller than a whole desktop! It functions just like a USB drive, of course with an on/off switch, so it was very easy to use.

Comments about Sabrent ECS-STU35K USB 2.0 and eSATA to 3.5" SATA and IDE Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure (Black):

This hard drive enclosure allows you to use your older ATA hard drives and also gives you the ability to use the contemporary SATA hard drives. However the structure is very weak. firstly the metal sides are easily dislocated even during use. Secondly, the cables are easily damaged. Within a few hours of use, I tried to remove the ATA cable from the hard drive so that I can replace it with a SATA drive but this cable broke away from the other end that was connected to the main board of the hard drive enclosure and permanently damaged. The connection needs to be more sturdy and robust so that users can enjoy their product for a reasonable length of time.
