The EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure from Sabrent is a super-easy way to convert an internal standard-sized 3.5" SATA or IDE/PATA hard drive to an external drive. This enclosure features both a speedy eSATA port and the more universal USB 2.0 port for connecting to your computer. The USB 2.0 interface is also backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports.
To get started, simply insert the drive into the enclosure and connect the enclosure to your computer. No need to install drivers. Because the enclosure is made of durable aluminum, it also dissipates heat as you use your SATA or IDE/PATA hard drive in the enclosure. Plus it has a built-in 80mm cooling fan to ensure that your drive stays cool.

Comments about Sabrent EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure:
Contrary to what "HighPocks" said, this is not junk! Pulled IDE hard drive out of tower running Win 98SE, inserted into enclosure, and transfered files via USB 2 port to laptop running VISTA. There isn't a better way. Snug fit, but not impossible, and who would want their hard drive flopping around inside a can. The only negative is the loose connection to the base stand, which can be fixed with tape, glue, a screw, or a paper shim.

Works like it should. Had a drive fail and the company sent me a loaner drive with no enclosure so I needed something that I could use to transfer files to a new drive.

slippping your harddrives in and out of this unitis quite straight forward
i am back and forward with 3 drives all using the same enclosure and am quite happy with its performance
have owned for 3 months now and no complaints
it does take a certain angle to place the drive inside but you'll figure it out. will buy another one

Comments about Sabrent EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure:
I put a 1tb HD in this enclosure and it worked fine after a little playing around in the computer management screen(start - right click on Computer in win 7). i was able to format it and give the drive a name. No esata cable comes with the encosure so i ordered one since i have a 2 port esata pci and an esata port on top of the tower. i have tried everything i can think of to get the drive to be seen by win 7 using esata and the best i can do is have the drive info presented by i can't access the drive like i can using usb. all attempts to get tech support for this has been usless. after a few chats with them they seem to have forgotten me. oh well i'll use the usb method or put it in the tower

Comments about Sabrent EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure:
Put simply, it is a piece of junk! I have several other docking stations and SATA and IDE drive enclosures so I do know junk when I see it. There
is insufficient room for a 3.5" drive and the attempt to make it an IDE AND a SATA enclosure just utterly flops. I bought it thinking that it was an IDE docking station, something that I wanted but the info on the sale page just wasn't clear enough to me. I wanted an IDE docking station that does not use cables. I now have one that has sockets embedded in plastic as most SATA docking stations have and it does the job.

Comments about Sabrent EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure:
My desktop stopped working so I bought a new one and several weeks later I picked up this enclosure. I removed the 3 hard dirves from the old desktop and placed them one at a time in the enclosure and transfered the data to the new computer in just a few minutes each. Now I have it setup on my router with one of the old hard dives as a backup. Very handy way to do a backup!

Comments about Sabrent EC-UEIS7 USB 2.0 and eSATA to IDE or SATA Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure:
Easy to assemble and works well. Just slip your internal hard drive into the case and you've built your own external hard drive for half the price. Built in fan protects hard drive from over heating. Simple on/off button that turns on when you click it on and off when you want it off- sounds basic, but I have hard drives that have a recessed push button and sometimes they don't want to shut down. Only issue is that the interior is a little tight, and I felt like I had to shove it in.
