Comments about Prompter People UltraLight iPad 2 Teleprompter:
I'm surprised at how many spots this prompter misses on, where to begin. And I'm baffled at the good reviews on here. My experience over the years has been with a laptop based system, a bit bulky, so I thought I would give this guy a try. Here's the list... - The biggest issue is the little plastic remote is horrible, barely functional, lacking the amount of control needed. So option B is the iPhone remote...- The remote software that works on iOS is decent, but you still have no way of seeing what is on the prompter. You are basically required to be in front of the camera to the side of the talent. You also must be on a wifi network. So in the field, you cannot even use this.- Sled and tripod attachments are thrown together, I had to scavenge for my own bolts, not really sure what they are thinking.- Horrible instructions, not that it's that complex to assemble, but I could write better instructions in the time it's taking me to write this review.- Glass is VERY small on this model, I should have seen that. If you're considering this at all, get the next model up, it should be legible at least. So to summarize, I really don't understand how they think this product will work. Either you need someone running the teleprompter, with view of it, or have the talent do it, yet the remote system is just so poor. I could easily prompt and run camera on my own with a laptop based system. I'll be getting a new one of those, even with the extra weight, it will at least work.

Comments about Prompter People UltraLight iPad 2 Teleprompter:
The iPad teleprompter seems to work very well. Easy to set up, gets the job done. I've used it on one shoot, with the camera about 15 feet from the talent. He was able to read clearly from the screen, even though it seemed like the area would be too small initially. We bought the Teleprompter+ app to go with this, and it is great. We can import scripts directly from Google Docs or Dropbox, and the talent can run the prompter from an iPhone. Very handy.
My only dislike is that the hood gets in the way of my focus ring, but it's rare to need to refocus quickly with a prompter attached to the camera. So this isn't too big a deal.
All in all, I really like it.

Comments about Prompter People UltraLight iPad 2 Teleprompter:
I wish Teleprompter rigs were not so expensive, considering what they are. I used the iPad app iCue, which is not free! The system came with a remote that plugs into the 32pin connector on iPad2 and the functionality is great but takes a little getting use to.
It was very easy to put together, for my application I was using a DSLR but can be se up for most other cameras. I even was able to mount a field monitor to the back.
I found the best way to control the prompter was to have it scroll at a decent speed for the speaker, but have someone off camera pause and resume when needed using the remote provided.
The iCue app also lets you control the iPad via iOS remote (bluetooth app on iPhone or iPod touch) Bluetooth Keyboard, Touch Tone Remote, Headphone Remote( Supplied remote), Air Turn, Or a Web Server. So there are other methods of control.
The System as a whole is very nice. It is made out of matte black metal parts, which don't reflect light. The iPad takes a little bit of adjusting before its perfectly reflected in the glass. The words appear very crisp and sharp, making for easy legibility.
One problem I have is that if I ever need to take it any where I will need some sort of small bag for it, because it doesn't really break down conveniently. The stage for the the camera is held together by 8, 1/8 in alan key screws. If the stage is disassembled you can fit it flat in a bag saving a lot of space, especially if you travel. It comes fully assembled, probably best to keep it that way, saving you time. The glass is another worry if traveling so its probably best to have a small separate bag or case for it.
Set up only took a few minutes, but best to prep the iPad before hand.

Comments about Prompter People UltraLight iPad 2 Teleprompter:
Prompter is pretty easy to assemble and has everything for use of all kinds of cameras. It's lightweight so you could also use it for handheld walk and talk shots if needed. Easy to read, and the Prompter People iCue app is great for the price! Easily adjustable and customizable.
Price is a little high for what it is, but it's quality materials and produces a pretty professional result! I'd recommend for anyone with a small indie studio, or someone who produces direct to camera web/tv projects.

We love our new teleprompter. It totally made us look like rock stars on our last shoot. It was an added perk that we put into our package. As far as the product goes, it works really well. The controller is just ok, but the teleprompter itself works great. when used with the monitor even people who normally don't use a prompter don't move their eyes back and forth with they are reading because the IPAD is small and you can make the letters as big or small as you want. I would recommend this product for anyone who is working with clients doing head and shoulder shots. It is fabulous.

I do a lot of digital video projects through my production company, much of it 'down & dirty' without the large budgets of TV assignments. I bought this product because I wanted talent to have the teleprompter there to help them, and in turn, help me turn around a more polished and efficient production.
The iPad Teleprompter (i actually have the iPad 2) works better than I could have hoped for. I bought it on a Tuesday, put it to work on a Thursday. Along with the excellent App which allowed me to control it via my iPhone, it was extremely useful for my purposes. As many have said, the lack of clear directions for installing is a minus, but I'm the least handy guy on the planet , and I figured it out by looking at the pictures.
For the price and ease of use, this product is a great buy for smaller prod. companies. Also versatile; I've used it with 2 different cameras.

As a disclaimer, I have not used this yet in the field, but I have it set up in my office and it is a nice piece of equipment. Obviously, if it works here, it works. There isn't much to it. The brackets are well made and probably indestructible... it goes together easily.
Unfortunately, it is missing a strip of velcro, but that is an easy and cheap fix.
This can easily be taken nearly anywhere. It's light, unobtrusive, and really cool. :-)
Oh, and controlling the software (teleprompt +) through my iphone is the icing on the cake.
