The XENYX 302USB 5-Input Compact Mixer with USB delivers high-quality audio and excellent versatility in an ultra compact design, ideal for home, project, or mobile studios. The mixer has an XLR/TRS combo mic input and a 3.5mm mic input, as well as a stereo RCA line input and a stereo 2-track RCA input. There is a stereo RCA main mix output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for convenient monitoring. The stereo USB audio interface allows you to connect the mixer directly to a computer.
The mixer has a state-of-the-art XENYX preamp, which delivers quality that is comparable to stand-alone boutique preamps, but at a fraction of the cost. A neo-classic "British" 2-band graphic EQ lets you make adjustments for a warm and musical sound. The mixer can be powered directly from the USB interface, or by an AC adapter. The mixer includes a free software download for recording, editing, and podcasting, plus 150 instrument/effect plug-ins and an ultra-low latency driver.

I've been using this device to transfer my old recordings onto my computer digitally. The sound quality is excellent, exactly like the original. There was a hissing noise with my laptop, but I unplugged the power source and ran it on battery, and it was nice and quiet. I highly recommend this for transferring analog music files to the computer.

We wanted to record live commentary on video game play capture device. We could not hear audio from game headset on video game with our console and video capture box. Used this mixer to capture audio from the headset microphone and combine it with game audio. Connected right in line with the video capture device and now we can do live commentary. Headset mic plugs right into the mixer. The mixer controls allowed us to adjust the game audio and commentary audio to get the perfect mix.

To start, I just got this & will come back & update when I have a better idea.
So far it is great. I have found a few things you should know.
~There is no USB inputs although you can use the USB to play from your computer.
~The USB is two way. In to the computer to record/stream & Out to the line/usb input. If you want USB in to play you will lose the Line input.
~Only 2-3 inputs can be used at once not all 5 it claims.
~The Mic In is a double xlr/1/4. Either works just fine & no changing of the input is needed to switch.
~The Mic In & Headset Mic In are on the same line. Meaning you can only use one or the other. The Mic controls will also control the Headset Mic.
~I would barely call this a mixer but more of a fancy volume control or "Layerer" Not a complaint but an observation.
~NO MIX MINUS or MIXMINUS. NoFX channel so no mix minus. I know, I know, you will look at the headset return & the input switches & think it is possible. Because of the shared inputs you really can't.
~Phantom power is very weak (15v not 48v.) Won't run a couple of my mics that need phantom.
~Use the ASIO4ALL drivers not the pre June 2012 stock drivers.
For Vidcasting this is great as long as you don't want to have guests on Skype or Google Hangouts.

The capabilities exceed what was expeceted for a low cost unit. It performs like the expensive units I have worked with in the past.

Recording and playback quality of this device is very good. Howevrer it is not reliable as in my Toshiba with Windows 7 professional the driver stops working constantly. I need to restart the laptop to correct this malfunction. I have tried almost everything to find which the coflict is.

Geat interface between a PC and amy song system. It is a high quality product. However I suggest you to but the one with more channels. It will give more versalility for various uses.
