The Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only) is an affordable and lightweight DSLR that's easy to travel with, yet full of options putting your vision into print. With a 16.2Mp APS HD CMOS sensor and Sony's BIONZ image processor, along with 'Translucent Mirror Technology', you're assured detailed photos that can stand up to editing and enlarging, and look great in any application: on your HDTV, computer monitor, digital picture frame, and of course, as prints, big and small. Of course, RAW image capture provides you with even more latitude, providing high-quality files and allowing for exposure and other adjustment options not available with images shot in JPEG.
With the Sony A-mount you can put any number of lenses onto the Alpha 35 for getting the just shot you want. If you're feeling the need for an all-purpose zoom lens, you can add one. Want a fixed wide-angle? You can do that too. And of course, the SLT-A35 wouldn't be a true digital camera if it didn't also record HD video. The Quick AF Full HD Movie mode allows you to record 1080/60i movies. With features like Live View, the TruBlack LCD monitor, and creative controls, you can make stunning videos along with spectacular photos. Additionally, the eye-level finder for HD movies helps you with framing and focus.
No matter which mode you're shooting in: video or stills, all your files can be stored on a variety of optional memory cards. The camera's media card slot allows for insertion of Sony's own Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory PRO-HG Duo, and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Other useful features of the camera include a built-in auto pop-up flash, which is great for grabbing low-light snapshots, and Hand-held Twilight and Multi-frame NR modes which both allow for quality low-light images without the flash, by combining the data from 6 consecutive shots into one. You can also shoot 3D images that look great on 3D televisions as JPEG or MPO files. These features, and numerous others, all contribute to this truly versatile and cost-effective DSLR, the SLT-A35.

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
All about performance n it delivers. whatever Sony talks, all about the new technology but at ends user want the quality photo n truly it delivers.Lest talk about the cons first. Its LCD is fixed though they introduce it in a37 but it should have in a35. Its body seems horizontally bigger than Nikon 5100 or Cannon T3di but much lighter. Pros are many. Great quality Picture. Built in steady shot gives it a benefit than others dslr competitors. Handy which i mention before. So easily u can move it fast. It simply best. I bought it in last 2011 Nov n till now i satisfy with it. Those who wanna buy Sony dslr should remember your picture quality n satisfaction mostly depends on quality lenses. So i think invest less (though it's expensive for me) on body n more in lenses

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
I purchased this camera for my mom for Christmas and I ended up using it more than she did. I immediately fell in love with it. The pictures this camera takes are absolutely breathtaking; they are so clear and so vivid. I love that it automatically can change from LCD view to the viewfinder when your face gets close to it. Love that it is compatible with old Minolta lens mounts (the main reason that I purchased it so that my mom could use her old lenses). Definitely a MUST BUY!!

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
After my Minolta 7D went to a better place, I needed a new camera to fit my spread of lenses. Sony is the best place to go, so after research we decided on the Alpha 35. I am still getting accustomed to it, but we were immediately impressed with how light the body is. This is bound to help in low light situations.
Upgrades since my last camera - automatic flash pop-up, easy access timers, amazing resolution!! 16Mp are incredible! A neat feature I found is the smile shutter technology. It doesn't work so well in low light, but I'm looking forward to testing on my nephews.
Still learning a few tricks - a lot less buttons on the body, so I'm having to figure out the shortcuts (or longcuts) of how to get a few places.
We're totally pleased with this camera so far. I'll review further if I find a need!

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
Had this camera for about two weeks now and LOVE it. Replaced a Sony HDR-HC5 and Canon HV40 with this camera. I skipped the kit lens and opted for the Sony SAL-50F18 50mm f/1.8 DT AF Lens and am not disappointed. Picture quality is unmatched in the price group and the camera is fast with little lag time.
I had my first videography gig last week in downtown Chicago and the camera worked wonders on a day that went from sunny to cloudy. I used a Rode camera mounted shotgun mic mounted on an Opteka X-GRIP holder. Worked like a charm with no noticeable lens noise.
A few slight cons...
The fixed LCD might cause problems when self recording. B&H lowered the price $50 two weeks after I bought it! Killing me B&H!

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
I got this camera (body only) to shoot my son's sports and to shoot video of upcoming hunting trips. I've been using the Sony A100 for a few years and have been very pleased with it's performance, but it was time for an upgrade.
I like the fact that since I am an amature photographer it has a tutorial that is shown on the screen when I select something on the program dial. I'm a hands on person and don't like to spend most of my time reading the manuals. It's lightweight and a little smaller than my A100. I do suggest getting a good quality sdhc card that has at least 8GB and 60mb/s. You will notice how quickly your photo's upload and record.
So far I haven't found any faults with this camera. It is very lightweigt as I mentioned so that takes some getting used to.

Comments about Sony SLT-A35 Alpha 35 DSLR Digital Camera (Body Only):
Now that there Adobe has released Camera Raw and Lightroom Release Candidates that cover its RAW files, I had a chance to really test it. The files are excellent, which is what matters with a great dynamic range. The camera even correctly metered an IR filter. The eye-level-electronic-viewfinder is kind of hard to get use to as I like a lot of others, have a habit of reviewing the image taken in the screen at the back. It took me a bit to realize that when looking through the view finder, one is seeing the actual results of clicking the shutter since it has the histogram right there to look at. Originally, I had a Nex as my walk around camera to go with my medium format back, but could not get used to a not looking through a view finder, this is my upgrade to the Nex and am glad I did. With two lenses, I have a camera that covers 16mm to 350mm. Don't think I have used it enough for pro/con comments. I do think this takes a little getting use to.
