Comments about Magnus DuraPod Mini Tripod with Pan Head:
I got this little tripod to experiment with video on my iPhone, meaning, it was never intended to hold anything heavy. Imagine my surprise when I found out that, thanks to the nifty little suction cup at the end of the main column, this thing can be pretty sturdy. It manages to hold up my hefty Olympus SLR!
All you need is a smooth surface, like a car roof or a table, you push down until the suction cup attaches to that surface and the legs are spread out all the way, and you got yourself a stable way to prop up your camera.
I looked at a bunch of these mini-tripods in the store, and decided on this one because it has a handle at the camera holder, which enables you to find the right angle quickly and easily.
For the price, this is a really helpful little assistant.

Comments about Magnus DuraPod Mini Tripod with Pan Head:
When I received the tripod, it seemed a bit used...a few worn looking parts and a bolt on the side was almost completely stripped, despite my buying new. There was also a lot of oil spilling out of the pan handle, so I wiped most of the excess.
Aside from those mishaps, the tripod is sturdy enough for my sony nex with its kit 18-55 lens. I do find though, that when tilting downward the pan handle needs to be tightened all the way in order for it to stay in place at all. The vertical position holds my camera well and panning left and right isn't too bad. The legs are alright when extending the first level there is no tightening required, only when extending all the way that this is needed.
Maybe I recieved a slighty finicky copy. Otherwise it works for me and what I do, which is mostly stills and I like using a pan handle. I am not a professional, but maybe a different mini tripod would work better for other folks.
